Forcing Vera Restart

How long do you have to interrupt the main power supply to Vera in order to force a restart? Is .25 secs enough, or does Vera have an internal capacitor to bridge short-term power interruptions?

If your power failed for .25 seconds and you did NOT want Vera to restart, you know that it would. >:(

However, if your goal is some form of relay to power cycle the Vera, I would strongly recommend two or more seconds with the power off.

I would also recommend cutting the power at least 5 seconds or more because of any memory that might not be cleared could cause problems after booting back up.

I guess no one knows the answer to my question. Where is MCV? Surely someone there must know the answer.

Looks like you got two good answers, to me.

Vera does not have any capacitors specifically for power interruptions. A momentary blink of the power can have an effect. However, to reliably recycle/reboot a Vera, a 0.25 second interruption is not nearly adequate. Try for a two second minimum, but more is better.

I’m guessing that that wasn’t the answer you wanted to get.
