Noticed discrepancy between the Device: drop-down menu in Scenes > Event, versus the one under Scenes > Advanced. Latter shows devices sorted by Room, while former does not. Needs consistency (I like seeing the Rooms).
The new ‘Advanced’ button under Scenes is in extreme ‘alpha’ state, with probably no meaning to anyone at this stage.
Is it just me, or is 918 a LOT slower / less responsive than 899? Screen navigation, SAVE / Continue, and device commands seem slow(er), and right out of the chute after upgrading, I could turn a lamp ‘On’ but it took me several tries to turn it ‘Off’.
Am I just noticing that the Timer > Day of Week > Sunrise / Sunset options has a “Seconds” field as well as ‘Hours’ and ‘Minutes’? Or was it present in .900 and .899?
Wow, I’m wondering who needs that level of precision in their Scene timers?
I can’t remember who it was, but the person that had the pet feeders come on and go back off after 15 seconds would need that level of precision. So I would say it’s a good thing to have.
Agreed… the move from .616 to .899 (actually, from .862 to .899) represented a HUGE improvement in Vera’s speed. Seems .918 gives up some of those advances – it’s noticeable to me.
seem to loose access to the web gui after a few hours. Can ping the device, but cannot open the web GUI until i reboot. I would open an MCV ticket but I’m travelling so cannot get to the box…sigh
Yes… seconds are a very good thing to have! My feeders are activated ON and then 15 seconds later they go OFF. They are just a motorized auger that release food for a specified period of time.
On another note, vera failed for the first time to shut them off once she had turned them on last night. I came home to food all over the floor and the auger systems jammed up with food. I am surprised it was the first time this has happened… but it wasn’t fun to clean up.
I went back to 899… 918 I saw some horrible things happen. Scenes were not activating completely and I was seeing a lot more commands that were getting delayed by 10-15min or more (is happening under 899 as well but seems less frequent).
B0SST0N, a suggestion: Ask Vera to turn off the cat feeders every 5-10 minutes, using a standing Scene that’s separate from the ‘On’/‘Off’ Scene that went awry.
honestly, I don’t want to be causing any more zwave traffic than necessary… I would like to create a scene like i have with past HA controllers with luup eventually… like…
IF “Feeder” is “ON”
AND Scene “Feeder Active” is NOT EQUAL to “ON”
THEN set “Feeder” to “OFF”
This simple program should shut off the feeder if it activates for any other reason than the scene is commanding it to. Once a poll comes in and shows vera a feeder is active when it is not supposed to be, vera should shut it off.
Then again this is assuming vera is working properly… and I haven’t invested the time to learn any lua yet. I am hoping that MCV can implement this advanced conditional scripting without having to learn it.
Take a look at the ISY-99i for insteon, it had awesome conditional formatting without having to write code. I was implementing more advanced scenes within an hour of owning it. I am hoping this is where vera is headed…
good question and no idea… i emailed aaron 2 days in a row with specific times of when these delays are taking place. i have not gotten a response yet if he has checked my server logs.
i have verbose logging and lock levels checked specifically so they can diagnose these issues.
hopefully something good will come out of this and it helps people that have similar problems…
Son of a &%*&%, this is the second time this week vera has turned on the feeders and then FORGOT to shut them off. Food all over the place. Auger is jammed, have to take the entire damn things apart and clean them out. >:(
lol, thats what I used to do before I went all high-tech on the feeders…
i feel like I should go back to it. :-\
just sucks because you know when I give in to that feeling it means vera/zwave is still basically a toy and shouldn’t be left to do anything that might actually be important… i wish that wasn’t the case
I don’t have the cat food mess but at least every other morning I wake up, look out the window, cuss, and then shut my outside lights off. OFF commands in scenes fail routinely. I have submitted a support request with logs that span one of the failures. Still no response.

I guess I can put the timers back on my lights.[/quote]
I would just downgrade to 0.900. Since I have been using .900 I have had no issues and all scenes have been working as they are supposed to for over 3 weeks.
