Is there a new firmware > 1.7.439 for the Vera3 or is the new firmware only for the VeraLite?
I am wondering this as well as it seems the latest VeraLite/VeraEdge release has geofencing and push notification implemented. But that release does not seem available for the Vera3.
I’m just glad that it is not just me that doesn’t have the new firmware available. I’d hate to be singled out.
Paste this link into the Advanced custom ual area to get firmware 1.7.481:

Got this link emailed to me from Vera. Enjoy!
Thanks downloading it now.
Worked to update my Vera 3 but I’m not seeing any geofencing settings on my dashboard. But I did find an option now for push notifications under Account Info → User Info. It has a field for a phone number but that’s not editable. (I have text messages switched off as I have no text plan). The push notification entry shows up just below the Text message Phone Provider field and above the Phone Number field. I’m wondering if it should be relocated to below the text message section as it should be independent of that.
Update didn’t fix my garage door icons or the binary lights that say open/closed instead of on/off.

Thanks, installed with no earth shattering failures (yet). At least it rebooted and my devices and scenes are intact. BTW I saw mention of geofencing in the edge firmware discussion. Didn’t see any ref to that on my 3. Did I miss something ?
It’s there. Took me a bit to unearth it as well.
- Click on the > next to My Modes
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
You’ll have to run the latest GetVera app for Android or iOS I believe to get this to function.
Thanks, I went into this section and populated the fields. Clicked OK and got error unable to update account settings.
One oddity is that my ZWave light on the router is no longer lit. It does however seem to operate.
After the update all is normal now. Not sure what the unlit zwave light was about.
Thanks for the link! It worked for me, however I did have to power cycle the Vera after 20 minutes. Does anyone monitor via SSH while these upgrades are in process or is it best to stay away? After 20 minutes I tried SSH and it prompted me for login but did not bring me to the command prompt.
Irregardless, the new geofence option looks promising! I was able to add a geofence in the newest version of the Android app and easily configure it to trigger a scene. It gives you the option of taking action upon entry or exit of the geofence. I did notice the release notes state a limitation that GPS must be on, but I am hoping they just mean location services. Now to figure out if I can walk my girlfriend through this process remotely.
Related problem for me with a VeraLite. I was able to get the garage door icons by adding the Linear under Other Devices, where it’s explicitly called out instead of using Other Zwave Device. Unfortunately, while that gave me the correct icon for a garage door, it also changed the icon for my 3way switch to a garage door.
Yeah that’s where I added them from too. However, I think it’s unrelated since it shares the information from the BinaryLight.xml file. This is identified in the sys upnp.xml file which determines what kind of device it is. If you add anything using the generic or other it will determine the correct (or incorrect in this case) settings for the device. I might just get to editing the xml files and upload my own that divorces the device from the binary light. That marriage was not going to last anyway.
Sad that we can’t get anyone to share their Advanced settings that has the garage door icon no matter how many times multiple people have asked.

I found an interesting discovery on the new firmware last night. I was experimenting with the geofence option and noticed it isn’t available as a trigger for scenes in the Vera UI, but it is on the Android device. I created a geofence on the Android device and then added that geofence as a trigger for a scene I wasn’t using. I noticed now that the scene is completely gone from the scenes list in the Vera UI and I can only view/modify the scene on the Android device. I pulled the user_data.xml to get the advanced config and I do see the scene in the list there. It even shows the geofence trigger (it actually shows under timers/geofences). I can see someone losing their device and therefore losing control of the scene, or at least having to find a way to delete it outside of the Vera UI.
Has anyone tested the geofencing? I am hoping it works well but so far the Vera Android app has not been the best. AuthomationHD FTW.

These are from the VeraLite browser client, grey when closed and red when open.

Hmmm that may explain few things I notice lately… I could program a geofence named “home” on my phone… But could not see it in the Vera3 UI7 interface…
I did try to configure the same Geofence name “home” on my wife’s phone… Could not use the same name… So ended naming “Home1” and “Home2” respectively on my phone and my wife’s phone!
Over that I could not trig in the UI7 web interface… Had to install a “HouseModes Plugin” to get acces to the trigger… But never worked!
I will try to remove that plugin, and try to configure a scene directly on the phone! Hope that this will work!
Okay, I’m still stuck!
It looks I will be able to program a scene on my phone with trigger on geofence, BUT, my goal won’t be achieved since I need to switch to mode “Away” when both phone are out of the house!
And there is no way that I could do that on my phone!!! It consider only my phone status and not my wife’s phone!
So I’m screwed, if I turn off lights because I go out, but my wife still at home… She won’t be happy!
Had the same behavior here… Update it yesterday and today I just notice it was off!
Did power off the unit and power back on.
Now it’s lite ON
But even if was off before I could use it to send command and all was working… That is strange!
