Firmware 985 Release Notes

When issuing a new firmware update there should be release notes. This will help users decide if the update is worth their efforts. I have no idea what the difference are between the UI2 979 and 985 release.

Ditto ;D

It would be nice if this wiki page was updated with every release:

Ditto again

An earlier post here talked about version 1.0.994 which I did successfully upgrade to. I’m assuming 1.0.985 would be a downgrade. But you’re absolutely right - release notes on every firmware that is ever put into play should be documented here or in the Wiki.

MCV - just formalize your firmware release policy a bit more and you’ll save yourselves a ton of headaches from confused customers.

Thanks! Very helpful. It would have been nice to know when they announced .985 that it was actually a newer version than .994 given that .994 had been discussed here.

But hey, progress is progress! Just finished installing 1.0.985 and all looks well!

.994 must of been taken down, the link does not work, using http://download.controlmyhouse.net/firmware/wl500gP_Luup_ui2-1.0.994-1.trx

Try http://download.controlmyhouse.net/betafirmware/ftp/wl500gP_Luup-1.0.994.trx

I “upgraded” from .994 to .985 based on another post here and it worked fine - for about 10 minutes. Next thing I know it’s locked up. I did a factory reset and reloaded from backup. All seemed fine again. I then made a slight change in Setup and when I hit Save, it locked up again.

Will try going back to 1.0.994 but not tonight…

so they (MCV) told us what is the newest (per link above) but how about what has changed???

Yeah it would be nice to have a list of changes to each firmware and should be easy to do. I tried UI3 and then .985 and both failed to work properly. I’m back on .979 and I think I’ll leave it because it took 5 hours between all the lock ups, resets, one recovery and rebuilding the whole thing from scratch. Anyone know what .994 has over .979?

there’s a post someplace that says the newest version basically has one line of code changed- they added in something to pass serial number so that square connect can control more than one vera. (But not sure if it was clear which version they were working off of that only got that one line update…)

979 was the official ui2 release. 985 replaces 979 by adding something extra to the luup api that square connect needs for the iPhone app. There were several bug fixes and compatibility fixes too that had been made to the Luup engine, like support for Kwikset locks, GE handheld remotes, etc. Unfortunately, we hadn’t planned on releasing a new UI2 build, so we didn’t keep track of the differences from 979 to 985. 985 came about as a special request for square connnect users who wanted to keep using UI2.

  1. It’s been 4 days since the 985 release, but remote control is still not enabled:

  2. 985 keeps locking up and rebooting on it’s own periodically! And I never had any lockups before - using the old 2.40 dongle… I guess I’ll have to go back to 994.

You think they are building more and more assuming the newer dongle firmware?

As I just posted in another forum:

985 seems to be severely broken - Vera reboots quite often for me w/o any activity. The list of Luup files is empty, while the modified Smartphone plugin is still there in /etc/cmh-ludl. The Plugin gallery shows some “Not found” errors…

I’m reflashing with 994 if it’s still available…

985 is broken, i never had vera lock up on me since i bought after flashing 985 vera would randomly lock up every 2-4 hours. Flashing back to 994
