Finding THE GOOD Remote

Hello,

First, I would have loved to find a Remotes/General section so I could have posted there

When I started setting up my Vera, I was totally enthousiast to be able to control virtually everything from everywhere. Until now, from everywhere means from my PC, a laptop, and android phones.
Now that my scenes are ready, I realize that even using a phone is fun and cool, this does NOT replace a good remote.

I am already using a Logitech Harmony 900. It is not cheap but does the trick way cheaper than a Nevo. The only missing part is the zwave support!!!

Today I am looking for a nice remote that is either zwave or http compatible and within a reasonable price range (let´s say <400€).

I have seen lots of remotes, small big, etc… Having several remotes is actually probably a good option.
I like the small minimotes: http://www.aeotec.com/index.php?option=com_zoo&task=item&item_id=4&category_id=2&Itemid=152

but they do not trigger scenes and are not usable as main remote where I would need something closer to the Harmony.

Of course there are the Nevo but I have no experience with them and I wonder if those are REALLY worth their respective 700 and 1100€ !!! Especially I would love to know how you can program them and make your own interface/GUI.

What are you using?

There is a remote general section. It is under the main Remote control sub forum.

I think you’d be interested in http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,3083.msg67221.html#msg67221. While unfortunately the 900 doesn’t support z-wave (I have no idea why Logitech did this), you can pick a 890 pro for about $300 new on ebay.

From what I have read, the 890 supports zwave but this is not nicely integrated in the remote. I an not sure you can combine with scenes and so on. So $300 with such doubts is too much. But that remains an option. Maybe someone had one and can give his opinion on the remote.

uhhhh that sounds like a VERY good hint mwbehr. Thank you very much for pointing this AVL-300 out.
