Yes, you read right, I have had my V2 in its shipped packaging for many months now and I finally took the plunge to do the upgrade from my stable V1 with an old firmware. i am doing this because the V1 does not recognize some of the new products correctly so instead of just upgrading the firmware on my V1 I am motivating myself to put the V2 into play.
i wouldn’t say my migration so far has been a nightmare but it has been less than pleasant, having to restore the V2 to factory defaults 3 times already because every time after I tried doing a zWave copy and restore my stuff onto the V2 from the V1 backups, the V2 would stop responding by saying “server busy” for a long time (more than 4 hours on 1 run). i only have 8 devices and no scenes so it shouldn’t be that long. i followed instructions on the wiki and even did searches thru the forums but it didn’t want to take. Again, this could be because of my V1 firmware version (1.0.616).
what i decided to do was just go ahead and exclude my devices from V1 then include them onto the V2. everything seems straight forward enough, just take the dongle from V1 with you, put it into “exclude” mode, then put the device into “exclude” mode (which is usually the same as it’s “include” mode) then import into V2 which is easy with it’s battery operated portability. The only question I have is with the schlage locks. When I paired them I took them right out of the boxes, was able to have them right next to the V1 and use the UI include. Now that I have them put on doors, including one on my shed, do i still need to have the physical V1 and run the exclude throught the UI or can I just take the dongle to each door and use that method of exclude?
Any suggestions appreciated.
