BEWARE, the instructions to upgrade from a Vera 1 to a Vera Lite (copying your devices from the dongle) doesn’'t work - at least, it didn’t work for me after several attempts. So I had to re-build my weekend home network from scratch on Vera Lite. But I’m very pleased now that I have both homes on Vera Lite/UI5.
So far, everything is working well. The only issue I encountered is today, in the process of installing a new scene controller, for some reason I cannot get Vera Lite to come up on battery. The battery button just won’t activate the unit. Lights flash, but it won’t stay on. I have a support request in - I’ll see what MCV says. I just ended up including the new controller using high-power inclusion. But it was frustrating.
Anyway, if you’re going to upgrade from a Vera 1, it’s definitely worth trying to at least retain all your devices following the instructions from MCV, but be prepared, just in case, to re-build your network from scratch.
I could feel your pain in not seeing the devices show up after following the steps by switching the USB settings and so forth. Maybe the Vera gods were on my side, although there still was a lot of setting up to do after the devices finally showed up. Walking around the house to see what light turned on was fun.
I was under the assumption that the zwave devices could only be paired to one controller. I left my vera1 active until everything was stable. So far so good.

When you resorted your old vera to the new one, it essentially cloned the dongle including the houseid, and thus the zwave devices would all still work fine since the houseid has not changed.
Just don’t operate both at once
Thanks Strangely,
makes sense, as soon as everything was stable good ole Vera 1 was decommissioned. Now if I can just get the box close enough to my locks for them to configure with out doing a full exclude and include I will be happy.
