Getting my car’s Garage remote buttons talking to it was sloppy but it worked. Getting vera to talk to it correctly took multiple ‘find controller’ attempts (I think I could work out the straight forward sequence, if anyone is interested, I’m game to remove it and start over from scratch. However, I wrote some test scenes and found an interesting anomaly (not bug, but…). My test script sets a light’s level to 50%, then after 10 sec’s returns to previous. This way if the light was on or off, I could see the scene trigger. HOWEVER…accidentally press the scene button twice, and the Scene double pumps. On the second press, the previous level is 50% so when the second event ends, the light does not return to where it was.
So the question. MCV, is it possible to make 'non-retriggerable scenes? When I set up a scene in Vera, I’d like the option to make it not retrigger until it ends. Seems to me this would be very useful. For me personally, when I come home late and my lights are all in dim mode, I’d like to execute a scene that lasts for maybe 1/2 hour and then go back to where I was.
I used a zwave relay and door sensor for my garage door. I think it makes for a better solution. You can tell when the door is open/closed. You can trigger scenes, events, and notifications by the sensor. And… you have control over the opening/closing of the door via zwave. It wasn’t that expensive or hard to setup either. I am sure with some clever luup programming the sensor and relay could be more integrated to each other. It’s worth looking into…
BOSSTON, Actually opening and closing the garage door wasn’t my immediate concern. I just want to trigger scenes from my car without carrying a remote around. Something like…
Pull up to the house…press a button and (1) The lights come on, (2) the front door unlocks, and whatever else I can think off. It works as long as I’m careful (ok, the lock isn’t on my list yet, but…).
I want to avoid LUUP programming as long as I can. Once I go down that dark path I fear my days of sleeping are over. ;D
How about pulling up to the house and the bluetooth dongle that’s plugged into your vera notices that your phone is in proximity to your house (since it’s in your pocket) and triggers a scene. Wouldn’t that be nice? But I can’t mention that since I just bitched in a thousand posts about how MCV needs to quit adding features until they fix the ones that they have.
