I got an email fro Fibaro inviting me to order, but there were no prices listed. How much were the sensors (U.S.)?

AFAIK, there’s no public link for ordering yet. if you signed up at their site to express interest in US versions, they send you a follow up email with pricing and instructions for ordering.
Received my Fibaro window/door sensors with the DS18B20 temperature sensors. Wanted to post this to give a bit of a review and information to those who get these. The DS18B20 temperature sensor was a bit tricky to put in at first…I was following their concept art and it just didn’t seem to fit. I found that you needed to bend it a bit and it fit in just perfect. Here are 2 pics: http://imgur.com/a/Cqf7s
Also this may seem obvious to some but since the battery came pre-installed with a pull tab it took me a few minutes to realize the holes for the mounting screws were behind the battery.
The sensors were very simple to get associated with vera. Put Vera into inclusion mode and press the back tamper button on the sensor very quickly repeatedly until you see the Vera blink quickly showing you it has added the new device. After you do that take the Vera out of inclusion mode and then again press the back tamper button a few times…this will make Vera begin to configure the new device. Note: If you associate the device before installing the temperature sensor you will have to exclude it and then re-associate it.
At this point you should have 3 devices listed under your Devices tab. 2 Motion Sensors and 1 GenericIO. Open the GenericIO settings by clicking on the little wrench in the right hand corner. Then click on the “Advanced” tab and change the device_file value to be D_TemperatureSensor1.xml
After you do that be sure to hit the big red Save in the right hand corner and you should be done.
So far I am very impressed. Mounting & associating was very simple. I have installed it on my garage door and a few “protected” doors in my home. The alert is instant in Veras web interface when you open or close a door. There is literally zero delay. As soon as I open a door the device turns red and as soon as it is closed it turns green. I was quite impressed with this as I expected some kind of delay.
Also the Fibaro team has been amazingly helpful throughout the whole order process and I look forward to ordering more from them in the future as my money permits ;D
I like the door sensors but how does adding a temperature sensor to it help you.
How are you using the temp info.
Just wondering trying to figure out an application for it.

that is a good question. If it is 18F outside and 72F inside, I’m guessing that it will tell me it is at some arbitrary temperature at the door. There is almost always a thermal transition point (drafting heat out or in).
Imagine what it will tell you if the door is on the south side of the house on a sunny day.
Interior doors where you want to trigger actions off their opening/closing would allow youth monitor a temperature, but so does your thermostat.
I think this may fall into “they added it because they could” category.
I live in Florida and work from home. I keep the thermostat set relatively high (78) during the day to conserve energy. At times my office can get quite hot. Sometimes I am so busy working I don’t realize how hot it is getting until it’s uncomfortable.
Using PLEG I set it up so that when the temperature in my office gets above 75 degrees vera automatically turns on my ceiling fan. I have ceiling fans in every room in my house so as I add more sensors I will be able to use similar logic in every room.
Also it is just interesting to be able to know what the temperatures in different parts of the house are. The sensors are very cheap so it’s really no big deal adding them.
that’s a good use for a temp. sensor. Do you use the door sensor on interior doors? Like, don’t turn on the ceiling fan if the door is closed/open?
I do use the door sensor on interior doors. Not all yet though. As for controlling the fan whether it’s open/closed I do not think I would do that as my location in the house is rather predictable depending on time of day.
