Fibaro FGS221 inclusion mess

Vera 3, FW 1.5.622. FGS221 V2.2

2 days now trying to include a new FGS221. Exclude works. In fact I excluded another FGS221 relay to be sure.

So now I have 2 FGS221 that WILL NOT include. And 1 did include before.

On the Vera I get the 1 sec Z-Wave led blink. normal

On the FGS221 the 3 B push not working at all. Other posts suggest rapid pushes up to 12. Well I can get the Vera Z-Wave light to “flutter” for about 1.5 sec. Looks like it worked…but no.

After the led flutter, the Vera led lights on steady. I know it should go back to the 1 sec blink. But it never does. So I think the comm between the Vera and the Fibaro is broken somehow.

Anyone have similar experience? This isn’t rocket science! Why is it so much trouble including devices in general. I spend 10 times longer including over actually installing these modules.

So now I am out 2 modules in my network.

Which procedure are you using for including the devices? Vera on battery and then go to the device?

I think in the manual of the fibaro device there is a describtion of how to reset it, maybe that helps too.

You could also try a full power inclusion. I once had a problem with a fibaro dimmer, I was not able to include it with the attached bistable switch, I succeeded by using the small button directly on the fibaro device, also had to push it way more than 3 times…

Did you look through the forum, I think there are quite a few topics concerning this problem. For example:

Thanks chixxi, but I’ve done all those things. I am sure something is wrong with my Vera now. It alwasy end in 'Failed to enter learn mode".
I’ve put in a support ticket.

ok then. when googling for “vera Failed to enter learn mode” I see a few topics, but they all seem kind of outdated.

hope they will respond soon.

At times I compare Vera to a women (sorry for of the stereotype but the name allows the chance) and with that association, I find that she be temperamental at times:) not wanting to do what you tell her.
E.g the orange lite might not flash yet the UI says “ready to add node” or device not sure exactly. (Problem best I stop there with the comparisons ;))

I recently had an issue where the LED was playing up, yet the UI seemed fine, but I could not properly include a couple of nodes and then I was unable to exclude, Vera would just not play ball. In the end I did a restore of the z-wave network from an earlier back up (it’s a specific restore option in Vera) and that seemed to settle everything down and it worked as expected the next time. (Note - You’ll lose any nodes that were added after the back up date) - I’m not saying it will fix your issue, just drawing out some similarities…

The Fibaros can be tricky and I have had to be very patient with mine, as the node information transfer can take a while to be exchanged and then for Vera to update. (Multiple reloads) My personal experience is that if the include process on certain devices is not done to the letter, then problems can occur.

Assuming all have been excluded now, the Fibaro instructions are quite clear on the inclusion process. 3 presses or 1 (for the dimmers it’s further complicated by the type of switch you have  )

Overall I’ve found Fibaro to be good reliable devices…

Ok, here’s the conclusion to my problem.

MCV did do a remote fix to my Vera this morning. I then paired both devices first try on each one. Everything is up and normal.

I suspected it had to be my box. Sure enough something got corrupted in there.

Glad you got it working.

To bad now we don’t know what the problem really exactly was.

I have a simmilar problem.
The fibaro dimmer stopped working, I could not get in contact with it.
I could not exclude it, so I deleted it (but it is still in the device “overview”, cant delete it from there).
Bought a new one and included it. It got in contact with 3 batteri devices but nothing else.
Newer the less the node shows up in other devices, but not in the dimmer.
I tried to reconfigure and lost the connection again and cant get it back…
I reloaded the log from the day before and it is back, configured, working, but I cannot configure, change parameters ect.
I think some thing must have been changed in vera

There is a zwawe switc 1,5 meters from it (visual contact) but the dimmer does not show up there, but in all other switches in the house.
The dimmer sees only 3 batteri devices.

And I have a dimmer in mysystem that I cannot get rid off.

I would submit a support ticket.

Thanks Bucko I will.
I have promissed to talk to the the shop were I bought boths dimmers first, http://www.etotal.dk/, he is always very helpful.
Though…I HAVE made an error : it is not the dimmer showing up all over the house, but the switch 1,5 meters from the dimmer SORRY.
BUT when I run a repair and stress the dimmer has 5 stars, how ?..it reports no connection to anything but 3 battery devices.
