Feature Request - Thermostat - "Temperature goes below" event type

Hi

It would be very helpful to have an event type of “Temperature goes below” for a thermostat for a property that isn’t attended in a colder climate. In this circumstance you would want to be able to create an event to monitor the temperature in the house. If the temperature gets too cold you turn on the heat to avoid costly, frozen pipes that could burst and flood the entire house.

This would be beneficial for rental properties, vacation homes, and even when a homeowner is away from their own house. In any of these circumstances the house may get left with the thermostat turned off and the weather suddenly turns cold.

Thanks

Jay

I would recommend never turning off the thermostat, but setting the heat set point to 50 degrees as part of “Leaving” scene. That being said I can see the benefit in being able to set a notification should the temp still fall below a threshold (in the event that the heating system doesn’t work). It’s odd that it is missing since there is one for temperature goes above.

This works for me in UI3 in conjunction with my 3-in-1 sensor. I have if temperature goes below 39 degrees to send me a txt msg and it works great. I put my 3-in-1 in my freezer for 1 hour and sure enough it sent me a txt msg. it works.

Not sure about thermostats, but if it won’t allow this with your thermostat, just get a $70 HSM100 3-in-1 and you can then use that for temp, light and motion

I AGREE. I would also like a notification if the temperature drops below 50 on a vacation property. This is one of the key features I purchased Vera and Trane stats for. I can set “when a temperature is reached”, but this only works for rise in temperature, not a drop in temperature in UI2.

OK, so I take this back…I enabled this “heat alert” scene where I have my 3-in-1 temp sensor to send me a txt msg when the temp falls below 39 degrees

I enabled this to test again and set “when the temperature falls below” and set it for 68

The weird thing is that I got several messages over the next few hours, but only temp alerts for ABOVE 68!
Seems that maybe there is a bit flip issue between “above” and “below” in this logic. I set it to “falls above” and will post more info if that does the opposite too

Weird I get exactly the opposite function, all “a temerature is reached” events function for me as “a temp below X is reached”
