Hi, I’d find it really useful to have a status label for my thermostat set point, so that I could see at a glance on my first screen what it’s set to. Anyone else find this useful?
Please add it to the feature requests on the http://www.squareconnect.com feature request forum.
Thanks!

This actually requires two set points… heating and cooling… or one for a combined heating / cooling system and one for heating only…
Am looking at creating these now for inclusion in the next release.

That’s great Squareconnect john. I’ve recently got my horstmann HRT4-ZW thermostat working - the first available thermostat in the UK! but as it’s two components, a thermostat and control box for the boiler it appears in vera as two devices, one showing the current temp and the other allowing changes to be made to the set point. This will allow me to have all the info on one pad, cheers.
My experience so far with these guys is that their customer support is second to none! I had prompt responses for any questions or issues and some of that was even before I purchased the product. I have already finished my basic system screens in the 4 days I have been working with the system and now I can’t wait to expand the system to my iPad, but I am waiting for the new Universal app and SQ designer software. I have also tied in TED5000, a motion sensor and all my Zwave lights. This is quickly becoming my preferred mobile portal into Vera. Amazing software with very little problems. I even helped them back a bit by finding a bug and they found the cause and fixed it immediately for inclusion in the next revision. It doesn’t get any better than this.
I have added this to the app. We also had a request for a better status label that shows idle. I have had a look and it looks like we can add the following states to the status label:
Idle
Heating
Cooling
FanOnly
PendingHeat
PendingCool
Vent
Whether they will all show up on your status will probably depend on your systems capabilities…
Update: These have been added… I will ask out beta testers to test these prior to release
Great news. Square connect is one of my favorite iPhone apps, and I have to say, it’s the one thing that kept me from ditching my vera, I never use the vera UI4 apart from set up.
For the record I’d willingly pay for an ipad version, and I’d willingly pay a reasonable amount too. 59p apps have artificially lowered peoples perception of value. Good software cost to develop, (no i’m not a dev, i work in design), and it’s ridiculous that people will willingly pay £80 for a single zwave switch, and then baulk at paying for a piece of software that makes it all work.
Keep up the good work - im also looking forward to the squareconnect Wifi/Zwave/IRBlaster product that’s been mentioned around the boards.!!
I was actually holding out for the zwave unit as well. But once I realized I wanted to do more complex things with Vera2, I opted for the normal blaster and purchased the Vera2. IMHO I can see no advantage to the new unit unless you do not have a Zwave home automation controller like Vera, since the Vera / MiOS integration has been done so brilliantly. I think the new unit is specifically aimed at people who only want simple Z-wave integration. There might be some more advanced features, but if possible, I think Square Connect would also extend that capability to the original unit with Vera. Anyway, these guys are brilliant and their software just simply Rocks. The best part is that they are constantly listening to their customers, which is rare in a world where most companies are laying off humans and putting through computerized voice mail hell just to try and talk to anyone.
Hi Cherokee180c, I’m hoping that the advantage that sq blaster/zwave whatever it ends up being called will bring, will be reliability, and maybe simple IF THEN logic without the need for luup. Also, as mentioned, sq’s great customer service and response to queries and featured requests gives me a lot more confidence than my experience with micasaverde, ( sad to say).
Having said that, Vera is working pretty smoothly at the moment, but it’s not really doing anything a timer or remote couldn’t manage.
