I want to install a motion sensor in my kitchen to turn on the lights when I enter. I only want it to do this when it’s dark out.
The EZmotion looks like the best sensor for this, albeit it’s expensive. Have others had good success with using the EZMotion in a scenario like this reliably?
Also I notice there’s a new EZMotion+, should I wait for that one? What would it offer me for practical purposes vs. the EZMotion?
Thanks~
I buy ezmotion and that running fine by 1 entire week.
running a scene when has movement on my kitchen and turning off when no movement is detected in five minutes…
but it deads…inexplicably, I was using batteries, and after deads I try using a power supply …
I will return the product to micasaverde.com.
is a good product but many peoples including me had problem with that. is open topic about this.
search for ezmotion.
Ouch, sorry to hear that. Is there a more reliable motion detector available? $80 is not cheap for this. In my bathrooms I have the Lutron motion detector dimmers because I’m not as worried about connecting them to the z-wave network (they are on a timer to go off and you aren’t usually in the bathroom that long, plus the sensor on the switch is located so it can see you, not the same case for my kitchen). They don’t have the light-sensors (ie don’t turn on when light out, so they work in dark bathrooms that will always need light upon entry). They are only ~$40.
Hi All
I’ve attempted to create a consolidated post for the EZmotion 3 in 1 (URL below) , please feel free to contribute to that one going forward with your issues and observations - that way we can attempt to bring all the seperate threads together and have one central and hopefully clearer picture of the problem being faced and hopefully the fix required - Please check out -

Note I did just order the Aeon Labs, less expensive and according to other threads it works fine with firmware update + beta software update for the Vera.

I’m doing this with my kitchen light.
I found that it was not reliable doing it via veralight, there were long delays at times.
I set up a direct association between the kitchen light and the sensor, then played with the Light Threshold value till it worked as I wanted. I find a value of 50 works well for me.
As for reliability, this works fine till the sensor freezes up every couple of weeks, the LED will still flash as it senses motion but the light will not trigger. A press of the reset button fixes it for another couple of weeks.
I have 2 others, one needs this reset about once a month, the other has been working fine for several months since the last reset.
I have no idea what causes this.
All 3 are the newer S2 models with the 5vdc block.
How do you do this association ? In vera?
Thanks

Yes, it’s done in Vera.
On a veralight with UI5, go to the device options tab of the 3in1 sensor device.
At the bottom of that tab you will see the association section, click on the “set” button and add check marks beside the 3in1 and the light you wish to control.
It took a couple of communication cycles between vera and the sensor before the association took hold, but since then it has been working fine.
