Extremely slow and buggy wifi after installing vera edge

I plugged in my new vera edge yesterday. I occasionally work from home and do not yet have my hardwired Ethernet up and running so I have to use wifi. I have had trouble with the connection on previous nights working but tonight it was impossible. Constantly dropping the connection. Extremely slow etc. It seemed to improve after I disconnected Vera. I’m sure this has been discussed before but I do not understand vera well enough yet to figure out the prior discussions. I’m getting the impression there is something I should be turning off on vera. I use a Comcast cable modem which is also a router. thanks in advance
