I have a workshop that is about 10 feet out of reliable range from what I can tell. (I used a lamp module on an extension cord in the middle of the yard to get reliable communications.) I have four conductors going to the shop all the way back to the vera that I can use. Is there a way to extend the z wave to the shop using the wire so it will be rock solid? Does arduino make something? It is about 100 feet.
No, there is no method of extending Z-Wave, a wireless protocol, over a wire.
Vera has a systems called bridging that connects two or more Veras, and their discreet Z-Wave networks, over TCP/IP . These bridged units can then be managed as a single system. However, I suspect that this (two Veras) would likely be overkill for your application.
You midway lamp module sounds like you best bet. I presume/hope that it is in an adequately weatherproof enclosure.
