I think my Vera2 has crapped out. Odd combinations of LEDs appear on the unit’s front panel. Most notably, the Service light is on. I’m trying to get a hold of Vera support to see if I can recover the unit. If I can’t recover, is there any way to exclude my devices without the Vera2. I don’t think I made a backup of my Vera. I’ve read all the devices’ documentation and all seem to require the Vera to be placed in exclude mode before any exclusion can be done. Am I hosed?
Your backup will be on the MCV site in the backups section. If the unit is not recoverable, then you may be able to add it back to the new one.
Were you on UI4 or UI5?
Worst case scenario, you can exclude the devices with most other Zwave controllers, and you don’t need the original.
Thanks strangely for your advice. I really appreciate it. I’ve already purchased a VeraLite in case Tech support can’t recover my unit. I’ll definitely check MCV to see if my backups are still current. My previous version was UI4.
If I can’t recover from backup, you’re suggesting that I can still exclude the devices from the former unit? I read on another post that I can simply put the VeraLite in exclude mode, walk up to the devices, and follow the device’s exclusion procedure to exclude the device? Is this correct?
For the backup to be resorted, you would need to have been be on UI5 already (unless that’s changed in later versions of UI5) so hopefully MCV can get you up and running.
And yes, any controller including another Vera can exclude.
