Evolve LRM-AS Status LED Color

I recently bought and installed two of the Evolve LRM-AS dimmer switches. They both were easy to install and work great as a standalone. I haven’t had a chance to set up the Vera yet (just moved into a new house) so in haven’t included them in a Zwave network yet.

My question is related to the status LED color. I haven’t found anything in the instructions or on the net about the color changing, however one of my dimmer switches has a green status LED and the other one is amber. Again, both work perfectly… just different colors.

Anyone else have an orange status LED or did I just get a freak unit? I have some of their non-dimming switches as well and all of their LEDs are green.

Mine is green.

I guess you got a “freak” unit. All the LRM-AS LEDs are supposed to green.

I received 2 Evolve LRM-AS switches today from Amazon. Both had orange / yellow LED lights vs. the normal green one from my over 20 other LRM-AS and LTM-5 devices.
Date code 1238. Quite annoying I needed to add it to a 2 gang box and the LTM-5 next to it is green. I have not decided to replace them or find a new location for these where the color will not matter.

@niharmehta - That stinks. I would contact Evolve and complain. It’s either shoddy quality control or an undisclosed design change. If they are worth their salt, they’ll swap out your switch with a green one.

@Z-Waver. I agree, not sure this should get past QA. If they do any. I will call Evolve in the AM and see what is going on. Definitely a strange batch as I have installed probably 15 Evolve devices in the last few weeks and these are the only ones that were not correct. Of course, this happened on my last 2 dimmers to install and now have my wall left open until I get replacements from either Amazon or Evolve. >:(

Contacted Evolve and spoke with support. They are sending out a couple of replacements with Green LEDs. I have a feeling they know a bad batch was made and are replacing as customers call in. If anyone else comes across this, looks like they will take care of it.

Excellent! Thanks for sharing.

I also got a yellow/amber LED LRM-AS from Amazon. I talked to Evolve this morning and they at first said they would send me RMA information and send a replacement to me - then I could send the old one back. Now that I got the RMA info are giving me the runaround and saying I need to send in my defective unit first (with me paying shipping) and then they will send a new unit out.

Call me crazy but I don’t feel like paying shipping or going without a functioning dimmer for an RMA period to fix their QA issues.

So - unless I can get them to stand behind what they originally told me on the phone, I am probably going to have to go through Amazon for a replacement - but the question there is - am I likely to get a green LED version from them or just another yellow one? The guy from Evolve confirmed they had a batch of units out there with the wrong color LEDs but did not comment on where they were shipped to. He did suggest I order from Worthington Distribution, their direct distributor (but he did say that Amazon got theirs from Worthington Distribution too).

I have to say, I love the LRM-AS - I just wish it matched with the other switches.

They cross shipped for me. However, I did pay shipping back which I am annoyed with … It was their problem to start with. However, since they did me the favor of sending out the new ones ahead of time, I figured it was OK to pay shipping this one time.

I would just go the Amazon return route. As of today, Smarthome is having a sale, so they are cheaper than Amazon. Hopefully they have the green ones.
