Everspring motion detector SP103 and battery level 255

The log below (B = battery level, A = current time - last wakeup) suggests that a battery level of 255 is equivalent to empty batteries. Empty batteries were replaced on < 2010-11-21 14:10:50 (third line of log) with less than half-full batteries. Right now, the corresponding battery icon on the GUI is green …

As you know we discussed this on the other side and I asked for a change to make 255 = 0
My experience is that 255 shows up in the UI at <30% but im curious as to what happened between
2010-11-27 03:00:00 & 2010-11-27 14:38:58 where 10 is reported prior to 255 but then jumps back up to 30 after?
Plus, you only got one week out of the new batteries?

JOD.

More odd battery behavior…

One of my 3 kwikset locks sounded a bit sluggish tonight when I got home from work; after cycling it via the dashboard a couple of times it failed to operate. I then tried to poll it as the status got out of sync, and whilst I was doing this I noticed the battery indicator jumped to nearly empty despite the fact that it was showing 90% the other day! When I checked the advanced tab it was still showing 90% and it was only after pressing the dashboard refresh button it changed to 10%

It seems that its been discharging rapidly for a few weeks as I had a problem with the door alignment and the lock was struggling to lock; now although I’ve largely fixed this, I’m amazed though that Vera never updated it recently with the correct battery status! It seems to only do this if you manually poll it… odd considering there is a default poll interval of about 3 hours i think.

@JOD

Battery levels are not monotonically decreasing. My HSM100s show the same behaviour.

The ‘new’ batteries were less than half-full because I wanted to have dead batteries as soon as possible. :wink:
