I apologize up front but I have looked through the forums and could not find my answer. Very simple event question. I assumed that an event in a scene tab was the trigger mechanism for command execution. I created a scene that would turn all the lights on in a room if any one light in that room was turned on. So in the scene I selected the event tab, picked the event type (thinggy turned or off) and the device when it goes on. I left the who to notify blank. then I went in the command tab and said to turn on the other lights… Save it and told asked my wife to turn on the light. Nothing happend. When I go into vera and turn on the light the scene worked… Are events only triggered when the zwave command is used? ???
??? Is no one answering because this is too basic a question and I should have found out via searching the forums or that it should work but no one knows why it isn’t or …
Actions by other than Vera triggering scenes are the core of the system.
i.e.- You enter a pin code from outside your house and open your front door Z-Wave lock - that triggers the scene that turns your foyer overhead light on for 2 minutes.
You have to wait up to [tt]PollSettings[/tt] seconds for your scene to activate, if you operate your Z-Wave device locally and the Z-Wave device doesn’t send status changes to your Vera.

I think that it is because the way the question is asked is somewhere confusing.
Could you rephrase it ?
Thanks
Thanks… I did wait 60 seconds (which i think the poll frequency is). I am using GE dimmers… Not sure if they send status. Maybe I have a flakey zwave signal as these are much farther from Vera than other switches. I will put an appliance module in-between to boost my signal.
To be clearer… Ge switch gets manually turned on I want other Ge switches to turn on. I created a scene where the event is a device is turned on or off. selected the ge switch which is manually turned on. In the command tab I selected the device to be turned on and set to on.
If you’re using the GE 3-way dimmers- you see lots of complaints here about notifications not working consistently.
I believe you are doing the right thing. Not sure why it is not working other than what @Ap15e suggested. There are some more reports about things being slow with the GE’s. I have linked Leviton’s in that way, and it worked fine.
Are you using a GE 3way switch to activate the scene as @robinnes mentioned? The slave in a GE 3way configuration is not zwave capable and will not send the signal to activate Vera. Nor will the slave cause its companion zwave master switch within the circuit to send the signal either.
If you have the zwave master switch as the trigger it should work unless you are out of range.
Thanks, It is a standard (not 3 way) Ge dimmer. At the moment it is tied (via scene in Vera) to a Leviton local switch component of an in wall zone controller. That is what is not working, but now that I know I was doing it right, I will work the weak zwave signal issue tonight. Thanks all!.
Is ‘Z-Wave device’ → ‘Options’ → ‘Poll nodes’ checked?
Just tried this out for you, on a similar setup: works fine.
Had the GE dimmer (from a 3-way kit; doesn’t matter) kick on the local load in a VRCS4-MR. Responded quickly. (Programmed this as an additional event to the scene, which also has an auto-generated event from one of the buttons on that controller to switch the same load.)
@oTi
Thanks, will add the zwave module to strengthen the network and re-test.
