I replaced the battery in one of my door sensors and it’s still showing the “?” and doesn’t run the scenes I have set up on it. I replaced the battery last week and thought I might have gotten a bad one so put another in last night but it’s not taking care of it. Any ideas?
Try hitting the “Poll now” button in the Settings tab for the device.
I’m seeing a lack of polling (regardless of interval I’ve set) for one of my deadbolts under v1.1.1245
Nope, that didn’t fix it.
Not triggering the scenes could still indicate a battery issue.
Was it a new / good battery you installed?
JOD.
Could try polishing the battery contacts on the device (and the battery too) with a pencil eraser.
i didn’t put a tester to the battery but it was brand new and still in the horrible, hard to open plastic wrapper. I believe Vera is seeing it, i can hit the “Configure Now” button and get a “Configured” response from it. It is getting stuck on “Getting Name” though.
The new battery icon may not have shown up until the device woke up. You shouln’t need to configure it for a battery replacement, but now that you’ve started the process you wont know until it configures.
What is the device?
JOD.
It’s an Aeon Labs door sensor. The battery icon never went away, it’s been over a week so I suspect it’s something else.
To be honest, I’m not in love with this sensor, I have two and they’ve been kinda twitchy since I first installed them so I’m probably ultimately going to replace them or move them somewhere that gets less traffic (or try the door bell trick with one) but they are there and I would like to see them work in the mean time.
@mbairhead,
To more or less rule out the battery, does it appear the sensor is working? Red LED should light up briefly with every open/close trigger.
To configure it, hit the tamper switch 3 times, quickly → red LED on permanently, sensor is now awake.
Configure from Vera.
Hit the tamper switch 3 times again → red LED off, sensor is now asleep.
I will take a closer look this evening when I get home.
