Ecolink Z-Wave Wireless Tilt Sensor configuration

I was hoping that someone could help me configure my garage door tilt sensor.

I am running UI7 and I could not find the specific model of the tilt sensor so I added it as a generic device. In the UI it appears as a sensor (reference picture) that does not indicate when the garage door is open or closed. I unpaired it and paired it a few times with the same results. Then tried to pair it manually by placing the vera3 in inclusion mode and the results were the same.

Firmware version 1.7.513
Device- Ecolink Z-Wave Wireless Tilt Sensor - ECO-TILT-US

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have one running on a Vera 3 with Ui5 and it also has Arm and Bypass buttons. The icon is what shows closed/untripped (green) or open/tripped (red) for it. It was easy to add/pair so I am surprised you are having issues on UI7. Especially as other Ecolink sensors are listed.

On Ui7 apparently the 2 little waves above the sensor image indicate if it was tripped. Grey is untripped (closed) and red is tripped (open). I agree with that not being as intuitive as the Ui5 solution and GetVera may want to rethink this solution. Perhaps make the entire sensor image turn red.

I tried it again and I did notice that the two bars above the icon changed color. The only problem I’m having now is how to detect when the door is closed. The notifications only list movement so I am not sure how to determine when the door is open or closed programmatically.

You could try removing at and re-adding it as an ecolink door/window sensor. That should give you an open/close notification.

I’ve had my vera for awhile but only had 2 things on it until today (my ecolink tilt sensor is being delivered today). I’ve heard about issues with this sensor and UI7 so been searching the forums for answers.

Edit: I figured it out. What i get for asking when i dont’ look. (granted i didn’t have access to it at the time but still my fault).
Couldn’t one just edit the device_type and device_file in the advanced config to switch it to the door/window sensor?
