Echo says "Please check hub"

Just connected Echo Dot to my Vera, followed all the instructions. When I go to issue a command “Alexa turn on lamp” I get the response “The hub Living Room Lamp is connected to isn’t responding Please check on the hub.”

I searched for forum for this type of error message, didn’t see anything.

Any ideas of what I did wrong, or how to fix?

Thanks so much!

An update: I have noticed that the “Alexa Helper” app was not installed.

I also have 3 devices connected. Thermostat, Outlet, and Deadbolt. I can successfully control the lock with Alexa, but if I try to access Thermostat or the Outlet I get the error message above.

Not sure if this helps in diagnosing the problem

This ended up being an easy fix.

The Alexa Helper Plugin says not to install manually, but after talking to Support they said downloading should fix. And it did!

Had this particular problem crop up yesterday, out of the blue as it were. A trip to the Alexa settings page and updating the Helper app. fixed it. I wonder what network changes may have prompted it?

I had the same issue, followed all the steps and Alexa integration was not working.
Installed the helper plugin in the Vera WebUI (despite the warning not to install it manually) and it’s all working well!
