Dusk/Dawn

I am a long time user of X10 but have now started to venture into Z Wave with a Veralite controller. It’s been a very frustrating experience as a result of inadequate documentation. I would have thought at the very least on the set up leaflet (the only printed documentation) they could have put a link to where to find a user manual!

After some unnecessary irritations, I have “included” my first device - a plug in appliance switch

Now I want to add a simple schedule based on an off-set to dusk. But I have hit another brick wall.

I found some documentation on-line which says I should click on the automate tab. What? I don’t have an automate tab.

i found a Youtube video where a guy says “we need to be in mumble mumble mode”. What? I have no idea what he said.

I keep seeing pics of a screen that I do not have (see attached). it looks nothing like the screen I have for including, scheduling etc

So please can someone give me a pointer…

Tom

Edit: If you are running UI6(firmware 1.6.xxx) click advanced view.

I’m guessing you’re one of the lucky ones who followed the directions and updated to UI6. Welcome to our unfortunate club.

To see the interface most people are using, scroll to the bottom of your UI browser and click “Advanced Settings”

Thanks to both of you for your replies. Obviously I have a lot to learn and a lot more to read. I’ll find time to tackle this again in the coming week. It could take me a few days to answer the absurd questions just to get this message posted

Tom

I am sorry to say that I have just one brick wall after another. So thanks for the news that I should click on Advanced Settings. I realise that I have done this several times before. But the result is always the same - Unit Busy. And it is always Unit Busy. Obviously I have powered off and back on again. The three required lights are on and solid.

So what do I do now?

Thanks for your on going help. Now the next hurdle is to try and get this posted with all that verification process which is very, very, very irritating

Tom

That is not normal. You should consider the possibility that you have been sold a defective unit. If you want to try something yourself you could attempt to do a factory reset, and you might even consider downgrading to 1.5.622 firmware while you’re at it, because most of us are on that and consider it the best version. But my advice is to brace yourself and raise a support ticket with Micasaverde. It’s probably inevitable so you may as well get started.

The verification questions do stop after a handful of posts.

Thank you Futzle for “that is not normal”

I have done a factory reset by pressing the recessed rest button and gone through the initial set up options again. I haven’t tried to re-include the device as I can already see that pressing the Advanced Settings button results in on-going “unit busy” message

I have posted the details of the problem to tech support

Tom

Try clearing cache CTRL-F5
Enter directly [vera ip]/cmh_ui6 to got to the advanced tab directly
Alternative attempt log in via getvera.com.

As @Brientim suggested, clear your browser’s cache. If possible, you should be using Mozilla Firefox.

Broswers that have issues with Vera:
Chrome - Sometimes issues.
Safari - Semi-frequent problems.
IE - Fail!

Goodness, gracious me! Are we saying that IE can’t be used?

Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried Ctl F5 and also the direct access [ip address]/cmh_ui6 but both result in the same “unit busy” message

Thanks again for support

Tom

Just to make sure we are on the right track… Can you provide a screen capture of the initial screen. Use Alt-Prt Screen and then save using some graphic tool e.g. Paint.

Next step, direct connection as per:
http://support.micasaverde.com/customer/portal/articles/730990--veralite-network-troubleshooting
You should be able connect using either 192.168.81.1 or local.mios.com of course, you can added the extension /cmh_ui6

Yes, you can however, there are some compatibility issues that users do experiences with Internet explorer.

Before doing this, did you connect via getvera? Try that first

Thanks everyone for all your help. If only they had put info in the box not to use IE - that would have saved a lot of time that I am never going to get back. Using Firefox, for the first time I can get access to the famous Advanced Settings screen. It’s like finding the source of the Amazon

Haven’t succeeded in re-including the original device (after the factory reset). Under battery mode, there is no recognition when trying to include (or exclude) but don’t worry. I am now just worn out! I’ll try again in the week

Thanks again

Tom

If you didn’t exclude the device before doing the factory reset you will need to do this before you can include it again. I don’t have UI 6 so I am not sure if the steps changed but under the add devices portion of the system there should be an advanced add section that allows you to exclude. You need to do this since the device is still programmed to your “old” system.

Same as above, from the advanced screen.

Thanks guys for all your help. Thanks to you, I finally managed to get the device excluded and then re-included. From memory, on the original include it identified the device correctly as an appliance module switch but I might have imagined that. But anyway, now it is identified as a Switch and it works.

Before seeing your suggestions, I had also tried restoring from backup the original include but that only seemed to find the room name

I’ll take a break before reading how to set up a simple schedule with an offset to dusk

Thanks again
