DSC EVL-3 to connect Vera Lite and DSC 1832

Has anyone connected the Vera Lite to a DSC 1832 using the newer DSC EVL-3?
Anyone had any experience using the DSC EVL-3 to interface a DSC panel to a Vera?
I am about to make some purchases, but, everything I have seen refers to the EVL-2 for interfacing to DSC alarm panels.
Thanks

Not sure what this module is. Who makes it? Is it made by DSC or Eyez-on? A google search only brings up the Eyez-on 2ds module. More information on this module would be appreciated.

EVL-3 (3DS) is the upgrade of the 2DS. It has more flash, an expansion port for add-on modules, and supports other panels (Ademco trial is ongoing). There are currently as it has been reported, it will use the same firmware as the 2DS. If this is the case, it should work.

Thanks for the info. Have not been on their forum for some time. So I have missed the introduction of the new model.

My apologies for the mid-identification on the brand, and thanks very much for the information!

Garrett,

Not really, they are sort of slipping in the upgrade of the new model at the moment and it has not been officially released.
It is more tied to the beta testing of Ademco and as they indicated, once this is completed it will be offically released; however, it has also indicated they are starting to ship this now…

Was this resolved and what Alarm system was used? I am thinking of getting an alaram system that I’ll be able to use with the EVL-3 for self monitoring (get instant text or emails from alarm system). I also want to be able to control my alarm system via VeraLite and have z-wave capabilities…

Hello,

The EVL3 is completely functional with DSC Power Series 1816, 1832 and 1864 and the DSC plugin enable you to integrate with vera. As far as I am aware, they have not implanted this with the other brands as yet.

Cool thanks, I’m now trying to find a good deal on a DSC alarm starting kit and the EVL-3, was going to purchase the Lynx Touch 5100 from Honeywell but guess it won’t do the trick…What is a good affordable keypad for the DSC? I might be going for the DSC 1864 with mostly wireless devices.

There are some very good DSC kits out there and you’ll find some advise on the DSC thread.
Recently a similiar thread http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,12643.msg93013.html#msg93013 was asking advice.

For programming the panel the PK5500 PowerSeries 64-Zone LCD Full-Message Keypad
or with wireless RFK5500 PowerSeries 64-Zone LCD Full-Message Keypad with Built-In Wireless.
The second keypad as indicated has built in wireless but this is one option available and really would depend on your installation whether or not this is required or whether a sperate wireless module would be more suitable.

However, if you can afford the initial cost look at the PTK5507 PowerSeries TouchScreen Security Interface and there is advice on where you may consider buying from on the DSC thread such as Gemini Computer are where I purchased mine. If you go this option and you intend to wireless devices, you can either have it as a second keypad to the RFK5500 or as identifed a seperate wirless module.

Thanks I’ll check it out!
