DSC & Envisalink 3 - Communicates, but no time set?

Long time listener, first time caller.

I have a DSC 1864 panel with an Envisalink 3 card. It works! I can see sensor status, and I can arm (more on that later). But it’s funky…

  1. When working on the DSC Alarm Panel device, on the “DSC Alarm Panel” main page, i put in my PIN, and click on set time, but nothing happens. Ever. According to the MIOS manual, this is supposed to be the indicator that i’ve established communication with the panel. I have comm, but this doesn’t work?

  2. Is this where we store the PIN for the alarm panel so i can remotely disarm from a scene or trigger? Or do i have to code the PIN into the command that is then then transmitted?

I don’t think the set time command works for the EVL3/2DS, and since they set the time automatically (If the EVL3 and 2DS has an active internet connection), then its redundant anyway.

It was there originally for the legacy IT100 interface.

Thanks, Strangely. That explains it.

I am able to transmit and receive from the interface, but I kept trying to get that one feature to work, since that was supposedly how we confirmed comm.

I’m still confused where to store the DSC PIN code so that a specific pin code on the Schlage deadbolt will disarm.

You need to use the advanced tab of a scene as attached.

Strangely, thanks again. Works like a champ. I think i shocked my wife (and I) when it worked.

Next question, can you think of a way that we can arm the alarm into either STAY or AWAY state from the keypad? i was hoping that we could enter a different PIN for AWAY and STAY on the keypad when leaving the house, but i’m not seeing an option for it.

Thanks!

Its possible, but it may waste batteries for the lock, and is a bit of a hack…

You need to create a scene that is triggered by a specific PIN that has two actions:

[ul][li]Arm Alarm[/li]
[li]Re-lock the lock, since this action will unlock it[/li][/ul]

As part of my arming scenes (not that I do this by PINs in the above way) , I have send lock commands to all my locks, so the second action above would be unnecessary if you did the same, since they would re-lock from the second scene anyway! It may be better to use the two actions above in concert, since there would be a delay for the subsequent locking due to the exit delay if you wait for a second scene to fire.

Strangely, I just wanted to write to say a quick thanks for your help on these forums. I looked for the information on this particlar forum for a long time and then you answered my questions to a T with pictures. Thanks a lot.
