DSC Alarm Questions

I have recently moved and brought my Vera 3 with me. I had it working previously on a DSC 1616 using an IT-100. I have recently installed a DSC 1832 in the new house and brought the IT-100 as well. How should I go about reconfiguring it for the new house. I don’t know if I should uninstall everything or where to begin. The other issue is that it has been about a year since I configured everything so I am a little rusty. Thanks in advance I can’t wait to get everything back up and running.

Well you need to start with panel programming (if not already done), then assuming you have your old Vera, you should update the plugin for the latest one from the app store, along with updating your Vera firmware, after this once you know what zones are, you should just be good to go!

Bottom line, I would start with a fresh version and make sure your Vera is updated too!

I deleted the old APP and reinstalled the new one. Once I select IT-100 I get a very quick message saying that I need to input an IP address. I seem to remember having to assign a Com Port or something similar. Is that still the case. if so can you refresh my memory.

I associated the port with the Alarm system and 6 zones populated. How do i get the rest of them?

I guess I should play around before I ask questions, I now have all my sensors on the screen. They all show up with an arm / bypass buttons. How do i configure them to just show a status?

Are they updating when you open or close a door?

no. nor does a motion status change. the “system” panel shows status updates when arming/disarming

I had to change the configuration under the “Settings” tab to “Yes” vs “Default Behavior”

Strangely,

Did you ever figure out the wired smoke sensors? I would still help if you are interested.

Thanks for the help today

Everything with the new DSC system is working well. The only issue that I have is that when I arm away from the “system” panel from with the UI5 or the scene that I set up to allow me to arm away/ arm stay/ disarm the system from sq remote it only goes into arm stay. The “Arm” button and the “Stay” button both lead to the same result, arming “Stay”. I have a status indicator light on the alarm and it allows me to see that both end up in the “stay” setting. Any ideas? Thanks so much.

I think I had this happen too, IIRC rather than using detailed arm mode, use the quick arm mode instead to fix this.

What is the quick arm mode?

From the advanced tab… a picture speaks a 1000 words

How do I get that and not this?

Delete it (press Del next to it) and when you add it again from the “system” device, you should be able to select quick arm instead!

I can’t’ seem to get it to work. I deleted the scene to start fresh. I add “Arm” with the “system” divice under the device tab. I then go to “Advanced” and press the “DEL” button. if I save right there, I can go back in and nothing shows selected on the “system” device. If I go in and add “arm” then “DEL” under advanced and then go back and add “ARM” again, then save the mandatory PIN input is generated under advanced. I am obviously doing something wrong. Any ideas?

  1. Correct for these actions; except you do not need to delete the scene, just modify it.
I deleted the scene to start fresh. I add “Arm” with the “system” divice under the device tab. I then go to “Advanced” and press the “DEL” button.

Click on Pick a Device
select the alarm partition and click Add
Select RequestQuickArmMode
Enter Armed
Confirm changes and Save

I’m not sure if this helps but on my system (dmp xt 50) I can program a “is this a lived in premise” option it is a false alarm reduction feature that when yes is selected if you arm away the system waits for an exit door to be triggered if no door is opened during the arming cycle then the system assumes youre still home and switches over to stay mode I believe dsc systems have a similar feature I’m just not sure if it can be turned on or off

There might be a feature like that, but the problem is that I very often arm mine via various different ways… Keyfob, SQremote and automated scenes after I’ve already left and closed a door, and the alarm system would presume that I was at home in that case, and only arm stay mode!

Sounds like a good feature if you only have and use a keypad.
