dropping out of Findvera.com

Ever since I updated my Vera to ui2-1.0.988-1 and today to 1.1.319 UI3, I started having trouble with the Findvera.com web site services. After enabling Findvera.com on the MIOS I can only login to the findve.com site once and for a few miutes before getting the “can not connect to your Vera…” errors. The only way I was able to fix this so far is by enabling/disabling the findvera.com services on the MIOS or reloading the whole box. This seems to fix it for a few minutes… Am I missing some settings in the new FW ? What gives… ?

As a separate side note… afte rupgrading to the US3 today, I am not seing any devices/scenes/cameras when logging it to findvera.com site. The UI there still looks like UI2. However, the mobile site for findvera.com works fine and all devices are there… Is this a separate issue with UI3 ? Or maybe related to my problem above… ?

thanks

Have you run a ‘troubleshoot network’ (I can’t remember the wording)…
did it give you any connection, tunnel or DNS errors?

I am sure your network is fine, but was wondering what vera thinks of it…

No problem with any network settings on the LAN. All UI3 functions work well when I go to the local IP address. for Findvera, the error is "Communication error with your Vera.
Try again " when I click on Control or any other links.

Is the issues because I have UI3 and logging into RA1.findvera.com ? Why is it bringing up the Ui2 interface ?

like i said, there probably is nothing wrong on your network… but did you actually run the troubleshoot network on vera to see what vera thinks… mainly does vera seem to be able do do dns lookups and are the tunnels okay?

Don’t get hung up on proving your network is working fine, like I said, it probably is. What you need to verify is that vera is happy with everything.

attached is tail end of my troubleshoot network… further down is what you might be seeing if things aren’t quite happy…

Indeed, there looks to be smth going on here. Notice the error bellow for ra.findvera.com. As soon as I disable/enable the findvera.com services under the gui, this error went away and status reported was OK.

How can I get more details on what is going on here ?

Well… guess you can wait till it happens again and if it does doe the following…
This is different from what I have seen. Its using your DNS and its happy. I have seen this happen with opendns and from what I could see it was dns lookups timing out. That doesn’t seem to be your case.

I would open a support ticket, enable tech support full access… copy and paste the key information that you get from enabling it into the ticket as well. Paste the error you have here showing probs with troubleshoot and explain in detail whats going on and how it was fixed the last time it occurred.

The reason I am going into detail about telling them everything is that it will save time going back and forth with tech support. They are great at fixing things quickly if they have everything they need up font. Otherwise you may end up spending a day or so bouncing emails back and forth. Any time I have put a ticket in they have been quick to respond and resolve my problem.

Thanks, I will try to contact support. Appreciate all your help.

Make sure your vera connected with WAN port to the router (I learned it hard way)
What router you have - I had very similar problem when I had too long connection expiration setting on the router

Thanks 325. I think this did the trick… when I log in to Findvera.com now at least I see the corresponding UI3 GUI interface. Got to give it more time to see if the connection drops as before… but I have a good feeling about this one.

The funny thing is I had Vera connected via the WAN for over a year now and all was working well. With the recent FW updates the guides tell you to use Port1 to do all the flashing… so I figured I will leave it on 1. That’s roughly when all the problems started, but I thought the new FW is to blame. What a weird solution for this problem…

Thanks again.
