Door Video/Audio

I’ve recently hooked up my doorbell to Vera so it can now notify me via Vera Alerts/SMS when the bell rings. I already have a camera at the door linked via Blue Iris and the Blue Iris Plug-In and I use ImperiHome and Blue Iris Mobile on my mobile devices.

Now remains the challenge: How to do bi-directional audio/video to/from my mobile devices when the door bell is triggered.

Which doorbell?

Stock doorbell wired with a z-wave sensor.

clippermiami,

No way to http and have Blueiris app open up to that camera?

Yes, it’s just an ordinary 24v NewTone chime. I rigged a magnetic switch fastened to the chime coil and connected to a door sensor. I do have it set to force ImperiHome to a display page for the front entry camera so the tablet near the front door displays the front entry camera. I’m trying to sort out how to get bi-directional audio and video to a mobile device like a smartphone

Have you looked at any VoIP solutions ?

I experimented with using FreePBX and registering softphones etc - thee are a few apps that you can use, plus it can record calls, leave message etc. (Give people the idea your are in by calling you wherever you are)

It was not a quick set up and in the end I did not have the time to pursue it due to other commitments - but it showed some potential .

No I hadn’t but that’s a good idea, I’ll have to research it. I’m uncertain how to connect the audio/video from the front entry camera and feed it to/from a smartphone.

I’ll keep monitoring this post to see how you get on.

Doing a quick search, it’s amazing how time flys - here’s a link to when I had FreePBX set up first and was discussing its potential - http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,14432.msg109239.html#msg109239

I always had something like this in mind… (http://www.addpac.com/addpac_eng2/down.php?file=547_f19.pdf)
