Door sensors, no fancy requirements… indoor use, vera compatible of course.
Would like to put one on a normal door and one on a sliding patio door (aluminum / glass).
Seems there are a couple of brands out there. Have done some searching in the forums and see some gripes about the hawking model. Need your input. Thanks!
I have one hawking one and once you get it set up with nodes that are in range, then it seems to work very well and reliably. I was going to buy another couple more but decided that I would rather fit an alarm panel with its own sensors and have Vera use those for any associations with Vera like lights or cameras. Kills 2 birds with one stone and if you have a lot of doors windows, then with the lower cost probably works out comparable and you get an alarm thrown in!
Speaking of door sensors - (not to thread hijack…)
To answer OPs question: I have two of the Aeon Labs door sensors. I like the shape / size of them as well as the type of battery they use.
Typically speaking, how quickly do your door sensors → Vera → Event work?
I have my door sensors turn on the light where they’re at once the door is open and off when the door is closed.
It seems that the time it takes from Door Open to Light On can vary widely. I understand that the device has to wake up, send Vera a tripped event, then Vera has to run the scene. But, sometimes the light turns on almost immediately, other times I’m almost done with the room before the light turns on (several seconds).
Aside from making the device stay on all the time (poor battery life), is there any way to make the whole scene happen faster? I’ve already healed my network. Both of the door sensors are less than 50 ft away from Vera and they have in-wall light switches/dimmers within 3 ft.
Interesting angle. This is for part of my ‘cabin monitor’ I like the idea of the alarm panel for all contact needs… could expand to windows etc… Nice to know everything is closed (or if it opens). What panel did you end up using?
None as of yet as I’m still on the fence but am probably going to go with this initially since there is an official MiOS plugin, its widely available and also low cost:

Does MiOS fully support this or does it still only do simple functions such as arm, disarm, home, away. If it were able to fully support all of the wireless accessories this would be a slam dunk for a host of applications!
I cant be sure, but from what I understand, all of the sensors will be treated the same and can provide tripped status etc. Hopefully Javier will be able to confirm this!? If this is not the case then the alternate is @guessed paradox plugin which I’m also fairly sure does based on his screen shot from SQ remote.
Edit
If you read the following posts from the thread below it seems to confirm what I said for both. (Paradox for sure)!
