does VeraLite have it's own Zwave transmitter inside?

re ZWave support:

a) does VeraLite have it’s own Zwave transmitter inside? i.e. I wouldn’t have to buy a separate Zwave USB stick then?

b) VeraLite talks about home WiFi support which it needs, but on the remote Zwave detectors (e.g. switches, sensors) it would use Zwave correct? i.e. wifi wouldn’t be used here

a) Yes, comes ready to go.

b) Correct, only the control unit needs network/Internet access for updates and remote access of your Z-wave system outside of your home (should you so desire it). It also needs Ethernet connectivity so you can access its web interface.

Hope this helps,

The Lite has no wifi capability. It will use an ethernet hookup.

The Vera 3 includes Wifi capability, making itself a wireless router, expanding your existing network.

But most folks do not use this because it is difficult to configure and has some bugs. The main reason for a Vera 3 vs a Vera Lite is that it has twice as much memory … And that is important to folks that have a lot of devices and/or want to add a lot of plugins.

Your Vera Lite will become memory constrained if you add more than a handful of plugins. It can handle a good number of Z-Wave devices.
