I currently use a Vera lite for my home with UI5. I love the text message notifications.
I am considering a second Vera for my business and I’d like to be able to distinguish the (text message) notifications from the two units…
I know each notification would “say” something different but I created a “contact” in my phone for the email addresses that Vera uses to notify/text me
(noreplyxx@notify.mios.com). This way when a text notification comes in, it says “Home Notification” as the sender.
I am assuming if I buy a second unit that the messages can only come in the same way and I will not be able to distinguish between a “home notification” and a “business notification”… But that’s what I’m trying to do.
Anyone with 2 (or more) units out there figure out a way to do it?
Thanks in advance for any insight!
I’d recommend that you look into using the Vera Alerts plugin. It offers far greater flexibility for all sorts of notifications, than the inbuilt notification system. This is especially true if you are using its accompanying Android app, but it has notification options for other devices. The plugin’s options include customized notifications, spoken notifications, notifications with picture attachments, and more.
The Vera Alerts plugin has a free 30 day trial, and costs $5 after that. You may only wish to use it on one Vera. But, for me it would be well worth $10 for both.
I’m with Z-Waver on this. I have two Vera3 units running UI5, Vera-1 has most of the ZWave devices and the HA logic. Vera-2 has a few ZWave devices, the DSC Alarm interface and the Blue Iris Camera interface. I have Vera Alerts running on both and the messages are all prefaced by “Vera 1 Event:” or “Vera 2 Event:”
One more for vera alerts. I have 3 houses with a VERA and notifications like front door unlocked don’t work. Custom messages like “Havasu Front Door unlocked” are now in place.
Even more useful in your situation.
Thx guys! I have tried it out in the past but not to its potential… I will give it another shot!
