Once the devices are configured (ie a green cog), Vera won’t need to reconfigure them again unless you change something (edit the name, change the room, etc.), or if you click the ‘configure right now’ button. Then it goes to a gray or blue cog, and becomes red if it fails to configure. In general, the sensors will always fail to configure because they only ‘wake up’ every few hours. So, when you have a red cog, press the blue button on the sensor, which forces it to wakeup, and within a minute or so, press ‘configure right now’ on Vera. If the cog doesn’t turn green in about 60 seconds, check that you have a fresh pair of batteries in the sensor and try bringing the sensor closer to Vera. For configuration, there is a lot of data being exchanged and we’ve found that weak batteries can cause configuration to fail even before the ‘motion sensed’ packets fail.
