My home suffers from the No Neutral Wire syndrome and I know that I can use the Fibaro dimmers to solve my 2 wire problem. My issue is that all my lights are CFLs and I am concerned that if someone accidentally moves the slider on UI5 or other applications that this dimmers will damage the CFLs/ballasts. Apparently not sending enough voltage through has even been know to cause fires (true?)
Is there a way for me to disable the slider and have the dimmer display as an on/off switch only? Much appreciated!
If you are running a CFL from an FGD211, you should set it so it behaves as a switch instead of a dimmer. Set configuration parameter 13 (minimum dimmer level) to 98 and parameter 10 (dimming time) to 0. Now the dimmer can only be on or off.
If the CFL is the only load for the dimmer, you will also need to connect a Fibaro Bypass FGB001 across it (the CFL). This provides a path for the FGD211 quiescent current when the lamp is off. Without the bypass, the CFL will probably flicker when the dimmer is turned off.
