Got my system setup over the past couple of weeks, very happy with everything. Before starting with z-wave and Vera I controlled my home entertainment thru URC wall panels and remotes. Off course the next step is to integrate the wall panels and remotes with Vera. After browsing thru the forums, wiki and some experimenting I have most basic stuff working. Starting scenes with On/Off/Dim commands for lighting etc work, Sonos play and volume controls work but I can’t figure out ‘simple’ dimmer control. I want to ‘push’ a button a button on my remote and fire off a scene that increases dim level by 10%. I’m probably missing something obvious.
I have a ZonePlayer S5 (now PLAY:5) for outside and a Zoneplayer 90 (CONNECT) hooked into my multi-zone amp. Works like a dream. With the Sonos plugin and some trial and error you can play anything you throw at it with Vera.
In my case I have one network drive with all my music files (mp3 format), is possible using iphone or ipad chosse one music that network drive and play in sonos 5 ?

Anyone who can point me in the right direction?
I think this should work.
Assuming you have the remote control you mention registered on Vera, you can use that as a trigger to run a scene, that you have preset to increase the dimmer level.
To do this under UI5, first select the Automation tab and then…
in a new scene, go to the devices and select the light you want
Select the starting dimmer level you want e.g 10%
once done go to the Advanced tab and set the interval, say 1 second, before the next action
then go back to the device tab and select the next dimmer level and do option 3 again.
Repeat until you have the light level you want in the end…

Thx parkerc,
I will give this a try. I use mx5000 and kp4000 remotes by URC. These will let you send a http request to Vera to start a scene.
Looking at your suggestion, won’t this start the dimmer at 10% every time you start a scene and end at the level you set in the scene?
What I’m trying to do is just increase by 10%, starting from whatever the current level is. So, if the current dimmer level is at 40% and I press the button 2 times (trigger the scene) I want to end at 60%. Maybe later I want to press three more times and end at 90%. I’ll probably need some luup code for this?
OK I see… I was trying to do something simple for you from just a scene,
Right, to do this I think you will use Luup code, as you will need Vera to get the current dimmer level first before it then applies a +10 or -10 action. - to keep it simpler you probably need one scene linked to one button for lights up and another scene linked a different button on the remote for lights down.
I’m still very new to the scripting side, but have a look at this and keep us posted on how you get on.

I need only one sonos connect for whole home ?
Yes on both questions (assuming your amp distributes the sound)
Maybe, have a look at the Advanced tab in a scene and see if you can build the same sort of function from there.
You can have the remote control button set up as the trigger, and then under the Advanced tab choose the light you want to change and he value it needs to go to.
I’m not sure you can do an incremental increase, and I’ve only ever used a fixed value, but I might be wrong.
This may not apply to your hardware, but even the cheap scene controllers such as the HA07 allow you to continuously dim up and down by holding the scene on-up or off-down button until the desired light level is reached (as opposed to just tapping the button).
Then I think you’ve already found your answer with the StepUp/StepDown function. You’ll find this under the Advanced tab when setting up a Scene under Automation.
Scene is ‘active’ = “when all devices in the scene are properly set”
Pick a device: = Choose a light from the dropdown list and select Add
When the light is added to the bottom of the list, use the dropdown to select StepUp or StepDown.
Save
I have no idea if this works or not.
Edit: Whoops! Looks like some other parameters are required, such as SetStepDelta, but I’m not sure.

Yeah, I’ve tried it with a SetStepDelta of 10 and a StepUp after that. It won’t work for me, but maybe I’m missing something obvious. The luup code a few posts back works fine though. Just would like to see how to do it without luup.
I’m wondering if some of these commands such as the Step and Ramp functions are implemented across all brands. For instance, no one has been able to figure out how to adjust the ramp speed on Intermatic switches. I suspect it’s because they don’t support the command. I have all Intermatic switches, both Homesettings and Intouch, so that’s what I tested with.
