Device Names revert after changing

I’ve tried to change the name for several devices e.g. Leviton light switches that after they paired had their own generic names aka _2-wire wall switch or _600W Incandescent dimmer. I’ve changed the name in the advance, Name and in the device title (upper left), it changes and remains until the Busy Server has completed where the names revert back to the generic names. Any clues how one can change the names for these devices? Also have this problem with Kwickset locks. Any help would be greatly apprieciated. Mike

Did you “Save” after changing the names?

JOD.

Did you make multiple changes also? I normally do it a different way (your way should work I guess!?); however I normally just click the wrench icon and then click the name at the top before even going to the advanced tab; you’ll find once you click it, it will go yellow and you can then edit it; for safety I click somewhere outside of the yellow box first before closing the device, and then save straight away without making any changes anywhere else!

I normally do a single change (very cautious when dealing with UI4) , and yes I did save as Vera will not allow you to proceed otherwise. In my original note I indicated that it would revert after “Server Busy” I noticed that after that I would get a Z-wave configure message and then it would revert. As mention by Strangely I to normally click somewhere else before closing and saving. One thing I have notice is that I can change the names for my intematic HA04 (2x) and HA-05 (3x) devices but not my Kwick locks or Leviton dimmers or Switches. Also I’m able to change room names and scene names. It almost seems that the generic names are orginating from the devices…any idea’s

That was the other thread

I think 2011 is the year of the weird bug!

I have the same issue with my Kwikset lock. The name seems to change ok after a save, but as soon as I lock or unlock, the name reverts back to “_Kwikset Door Lock”.

This will be more of an issue if I get another lock and need to differentiate between them.

Unfortunately I have two locks with the same name"_Kwikset Door Lock" along with two “_600W Dimmer Switch” with no resolve

Have you tried to start a brand new web-browser session? I.e. close the window w/the vera UI in it, open a new window/tab & change the name + save it. Then repeat the process for the next piece of data (name/scene/command/luup code/etc) you’re trying to change.

Did it with no sucess, it simply renamed it back to the default name

I’m having this problem with a 3-in-1 sensor. I don’t have the problem with other devices in my system. The guys at MCV are looking into it for me and I’ll let you know what they come up with.

I am having the same problem with the Schlage lock. It continually reverts back to the Schlage default name. Anyone have any ideas what’s going on?

My problem was that I was changing the name, but leaving the leading underscore. Once I got rid of the underscore they would save correctly.
