device and scene relationships

Was curious about how scenes and devices are related in Vera’s programming. Did a quick search and came up with nothing.

I have an appliance module hooked to the xmas tree. It’s added to my network and I have it as a part of a few scenes already. Obviously the tree is only a temporary setup and it’ll come down sometime in January.

My question is, when I exclude the appliance module from my network, do I have to reset its scene settings? Does vera magically remove it from all scene settings? I don’t want any latent or residual traces of the appliance module mucking up the network or making it less efficient than a network that is built fresh. At this point, I’m also terrified of running any heal or repair through Vera as well.

Can anybody enlighten me?

When you remove the Device defn from Vera, that “step” of the Scene will be deleted. The Scene will remain until you delete it, since it may contain other steps, for other devices.

Any “coded” (Luup) references to the device will still exist, and would need to be manually cleaned up.

That said I would just plug the Appliance Module into a wall somewhere (after Christmas) and let it re-enforce your ZWave network… just delete the Scenes. I don’t think I’ve ever “removed/excluded” a device from my config. I just let it keep growing.
