Hi!
I’ve done a lot of reading around here and I’m getting overwhelmed. Searched, read, repeat. So here it is: I have a VeraLite running 1.7.437. I have two EcoLink motion sensors. I have 2 door locks. All is well. What I am trying to do is to arm the 2 motion sensors WHEN no one is in the house. I know there are many ways to handle this. I read a lot of ideas and came up with some basic ones as well. At the end of the day, I am not worried about myself or my Wife but the kids (between 11 and 20). One thing that I like is the ability to detect known MAC addresses handshake with my DD-WRT router. I do not want to load any software on the kids phones because one day it might not work, they might turn it off or they will be asking way too many questions. I want to eliminate their “input” out of this discussion.
I have a Netgear router running DD-WRT and it has a Broadcom chipset. Could someone help me design a script to detect known nearby MAC addresses connected through wifi or not. I think it’s the best approach to capture the state of device being at home or not. My logic would be that if I have 4 devices in the house, at some point I want my Vera unit to detect where there is 0 devices nearby and arm the motion sensors. If someone can help me, I would commit to test, communicate and give feedback back to the community. It’s only fair. I understand I need to find and figure this out but I don’t have the time right at the moment. I am not trying to just sit around and do nothing. I truly need the help and want to share my experience in return.
