Hi, My Vera3 has been relatively reliable for several years. Yesterday, with no changes to the network or any of the devices, the Vera stopped functioning.
The green power light alternates between green and orange.
Here’s what I have done:
Power cycled multiple times.
Changed cables and tried multiple internet ports on different routers and switches
Triple tapped reset button
6 tapped the reset button
Hard wired (ethernet) to my Mac
-The Mac showed connected, but standard IP addresses e.g. 192.168.81.1 would not connect
-Tried to manually set up IP address
Hit it with a hammer (not yet, but thinking about it)
Contacted support yesterday…no response yet.
Any ideas? (Or is this just a way to get me to buy a Vera plus…which I would like to do anyway…but can’t have a “dead” house until April which the Vera site shows is the new ship date)
Thanks for the suggestions. I tried two other adapters, same issue. Power light alternates green/orange.
Can’t access the unit using an ethernet cable from either PC or Apple Mac.
Support contacted me, but suggested I access the unit with an IP address, and that won’t work if it won’t connect to anything.
Any other suggestions? Seeming more and more like a dead unit.
Would anyone recommend the Vera Plus or another non-Vera product?
I have the same problem.
Vera 3 “died” transferring to vera plus.
I hope to get some help to blow life into it.
I have tried with the new adapter to vera plus, no luck.
Waiting for qualified help, dont know about ssh or putty.
Let us know !
Hi,
I tried the power adapters without success.
Tried fixing the “battery bug” outlined in the forum, by “reflashing” the unit.
Telnet’ed in via a Mac computer. Deleted firmware once…no luck; 2nd time; no luck; did it again and suddenly all the lights came on! The “erasing” messages were all the same…but finally one worked.
When I put the unit back on the network, it connected like a new unit…but had the latest firmware still on it, which is just weird.
So I did a recovery from a back up file didn’t work. Tried an older backup file, things started sort of working. Rebooted Vera 3 times and Voila…my scenes and most of my devices were there.
Overnight it looks like the Vera crashed, but a reboot, seemed to bring it back. We’ll see.
So who knows what part of my desperate moves worked. Had this not worked, the Vera was going in the trash…(how did it know )
I’ve asked support to debug further to see if there is something else wrong, but now we don’t have to go through the awful tasks of turning lights on an off…and adjusting thermostats manually
Probably still going to order a Vera Plus, but am going to check out HomeSeer too.
Thanks for the help!
