Datamine vs Datayours vs Datayours2

Hi,

most stupid question ever.

I am well known with datamine, have it running on my vera lite for over 2 years. Logging to a NAS share.

now I have this vera edge…

I read datamine has stopped and all about datayours and even datayours2.

But I can’t find the answer after reading all topics:

  1. Is Datamine still needed besides Datayours/Datayours2?
  2. Can Datayours/Datayours2 run standalone with same function as Datamine?
  3. Is the Datayours in the appstore of Vera Datayours or Datayours2 (and called datayours again).
  4. Where is the “clean” manual of starting with the best datayours logging to an external NAS?

There are no stupid questions.

1. Is Datamine still needed besides Datayours/Datayours2?
They are quite separate things and function independently. However, with the additional Datamine_Server plugin for DataYours, DataYours is able to plot dataMine channels and graphs.
2. Can Datayours/Datayours2 run standalone with same function as Datamine?
same answer as above. They are a bit different. The way they actually store data is radically different. But for many things, the results are similar. Look-and-feel is, of course, totally different.
3. Is the Datayours in the appstore of Vera Datayours or Datayours2 (and called datayours again).

Good question. the newer advice on the CIFS thread(s) may work for you. You do need that to mount a NAS.

My main question then is. If I only use Datayours, can I have the same functionality (it doesn’t matter what is looks like) as datamine in terms of logging?

And do I need to use datayours2? Is the install from the appstore sufficient or is that an older version?

‘the same functionality’ is a little bit hard to interpret. I would suggest at least that you start by reading the manual for dataMine and DataYours and comparing, to the extent that you can, their key feature in your eyes. They differ significantly in terms of GUI and the capabilities of the underlying databases.
