@arepand,
I’ve checked that the Y-axis feature works and saves on my system. It does correctly write into the config file, so I’ll need more information as from you to try and debug this.
As a starter, can you add the y-axis config to the variable that doesn’t save, then click the save button in the GUI, then grab the debug file again shortly afterwards. I’ll also add some additional logging in the next release (today) to help debug this.
Hopeful for a feature request: In configEnergyCategories you currently have:
0 None
1 Whole house
2 Lighting
3 Heating
4 Entertainment
5 Appliances
6 Computing
7 Utilities
21 Solar PV generation
22 Wind generation
I was hoping for these extra categories:
Cooling - noting there is not much call for this in the UK ;–))
Refrigeration - as above
Swimming Pool and or Spa
Cooking
Also I am assuming “none” is actually plotted on the pie chart and means “Uncategorised” rather than don’t plot, that being handled by logging on off. Is that correct?

I’m happy to add more categories, but categories should be “general” = ie you don’t want a category for each appliance, or you might as well just graph the appliances… So, I don’t want to add loads of different categories - but if there’s a desire to have extras, then I can add them.
Personally, I put my cooker/fridge under “appliances” (and I put swimming pool under “xmas wishlist” :)). In the donut graph, they are lumped together under appliances, but still individually displayed in the centre. The only benefit of this graph is if there’s generally more than 1 device in each category.
Let me know what you think and I can add some more - or maybe I can make this configurable, which would be better. I’ll have a think about this…
If you select none, then the device is not considered as an energy device. When the GUI works out the graph, it just lumps anything left over after putting everything into categories as uncategorised.
@arepand,
I have found a problem where the Y-axis data may be removed when Vera restarts. I’ve fixed this in V0.979, so please let me know if this solves your problem. If not, we’ll take another look at it.
I suggested these categories as they are up the very top in terms of power usage ie > 10% of house consumption. It’s perhaps constructive to remind people what the big consumptive items actually are and what they can do to reduce that consumption.
If you have “heating” then “cooling” is a must.
Cross the pool off the Xmas list - they are not generally worth it, unless you have someone besides yourself to look after it and you have the finances to cover the huge ongoing costs!!
Fair enough - I guess different people have different ideas. Personally, I like to keep the number of categories low. You still get the same information in the donut graph, but the idea of the category is that it groups data. If I can make it configurable, that’s best. Alternatively, I don’t mind adding more categories and then it’s up to people to use them as they like…
Maybe As you point out, it’s not required in the UK… Actually, my intention was that this was HVAC, not just heating. This is the same as Vera has for it’s categories…

Hi Chris, it seems the problem is solved now. Thanks
I’ am also missing data from before the database upgrade. One of my motion sensors is no showing any graf information anymore.
It has still a green a V and is updated, but the graf information page is empty. I have unchecked logging and enabled logging, rebooted nothing helps.
Can I, backup, uninstall datamine, install datamine en restore my data?
Hi,
Sorry for the delay in the response - unfortunately work got in the way of pleasure
I’ve just loaded a new version of dataMine to apps - this (I think) will copy the old data into the new directory. If not, please let me know and we’ll sort it out.
I somehow missed your post but found out in the best way by accident… charting back to the start of the year.
Brilliant! All back in order again and long-term stats can be viewed at leisure!!
See what happens when you turn your back on work and concentrate on the really important stuff?
