Current Version and Twilio

I’m having problems with multiple Twilio (SMS) alerts using Vera Alerts. I have four profiles configured for Twilio, one for each member of the family. I have a configuration that causes an SMS to be sent to everyone under certain conditions such as a violation of the DSC Alarm System.

However, If I set “Emergency” to include “Twilio-1, Twilio-2,Twilio-3, Twilio-4” ALL the alerts are sent to the first phone number. I’ve checked the Twilio logs to verify that it receives and send four alerts all to the first number. Similarly if I send to two (Twilio-2,Twilio-4) both alerts are sent to Twilio-2.

Previously Richard mad a change to allow a single Twilio to send to multiple numbers because that wasn’t working. So now you can input multiple destination numbers separated by a comma and each one gets sent individually correctly. However, as I said, if you try sending a grouping using the “Settings” configuration all the alerts are sent to the FIRST Twilio-number in the group.

BUMPED

Further “clarification”

Vera Alerts User Profile USER1 = 305-123-4567
Vera alerts User Profile USER2 = 305-234-5678
Vera Alerts User Profile USER3 = 305-345-6789
Vera Alerts User Profile USER4 = 305-456-7890
Vera Alerts User Profile ALLUSER = 305-123-4567, 305-234-5678,305-345-6789,305-456-7890

Setting Vera Alerts User-Profile Association TEST1 = USER1 + USER2 + USER3 + USER4
Setting Vera Alerts User-Profile Association TEST2 = ALLUSER

Sending to the Vera Alerts USER-PROFILE association called “TEST1” FOUR alerts incorrectly go to USER1
Sending to the Vera Alerts USER-PROFILE association called “TEST2” the alerts correctly go to individual numbers

Hello ClipperMiami,

sorry for late posting but i’ve been fighting with this issue of the multiple twilio accounts in VeraAlert for a while now.

you say that it’s been fixed (or actually there’s a workaround from the developer) and multiple twilio numbers can be put “somewhere” in the veraalert plugin in order for each sms to reach the different mobile numbers.

Is this documented anywhere or can you provide more input on how to make this happen ? Do I need a paid subscription at Twilio to make it work with multiple SMS ?

Currently I have 2 profiles for Twilio and as you pointed out, only one of them receives SMS notifications, not both.

your feedback greatly appreciated.

If you create a profile for multiple Twilio numbers then just enter the numbers separated by a comma 800-123-4567,800-123-4568 etc. I have profiles for Twilio-All all phones), Twilio-John (my phone), Twilio-Betty (wife’s phone), etc.

I have also Vera users defined such as clippermiami, betty, SysLog, etc. All of them except mine are notification-only and are basically dummies i.e. phony emails, etc.

Then when you create the notifications all the “users” appear and you select the “users” you want included and VeraAlerts does the rest.

The VeraAlerts setting defines user “clippermiami” as sending to Twilio-John and Syslog and user “NormalNotify” as going to "Twilio-All and Syslog"and so on.

Richard, VeraAlerts author, may have better guidance on configurations but this works for me.

Perfect, exactly what I needed.
My wife can now receive Text messages as well when we get burgled

Richard may want to add your paragraph in his help page about VeraAlert in the Twilio section.

Thanks a bunch !
