Sorry for the noob questions - we all have to start somewhere
I’m replacing all the dated X10 stuff in my home and purchased a Vera Lite with a whole slew of modules and controllers. Given some of the challenges I read on scene controllers, I purchased four different versions to pick the best/easies: Intermatic HA07 and HA09 and GE 45600 and 45601. So far so good - modules all added and working perfectly, remote access (homebuddy) working.
The scene remotes are causing real headaches - The GE45600 works sort of - it is added and I can assign scenes to the buttons - but only the on buttons. I read some tips on how to make on and off work, but have not yet managed to accomplish that.
The Intermatic remotes are added, and appear to work - but I can’t assign any of the buttons to scenes - the scenes tab doesn’t list any buttons - it just shows “Activate the following scenes when the buttons are turned on” with nothing under it.
So - any tips on getting scene buttons to show? Any tips on how to make on AND off to work on the remote?
And finally - any tips on BETTER remotes? If I’m going to convince the wife that this investment was all worth it, I need decent remotes for the home…
I use HA09’s and set them up for different rooms, they work very well, do a search by each remote type and you will learn capabilities and limitations, to answer your question, in the scene choose “a scene is activated” then in the “scene number” field you put the button you want to activate the scene beginning with 1, on the HA07 you can not assign scenes to all the buttons, only up to about 6 or so but read past posts to find out the exact number, once you have created the scene re-add the controller (same as you did the first time) and vera will report “found existing node” then “transferring scenes” once this is done (only on the intermatics) vera will have programed the remotes to work both through the scene and also directly to the switches (even if vera were off) which is nice because it is very fast. Without this last step (if i remember correctly) the scenes will still work but only through vera
Edit1: importantly if the re-adding is done the “off” button will turn off lights, if not you will have to assign a different button to an “off” scene to reverse the actions of the first button
