So I see Vera is really pushing home security. They came out with a big package for it. But I notice in the package there is no siren, strobe, keypad or anything. So I guess I’m confused. When you go “all in” with vera and get the door sensors, window sensors, motion detector, etc. What are you suppose to do with that as far as arming it? Do they expect you to log into your vera to arm the motion detectors or door sensors? Can you buy a keypad where you can arm the system and that activate a scene that disables deadbolts, arms sensors, and if tripped activates the siren. Then can you deactivate the active alarm from the panel?
Or do they just want you to get text/e-mail when things are tripped? I guess for home security I would want a siren going off and not have to worry about logging into vera to silence the siren.
Does anyone have a solution?
Currently I have Yale locks, Ecolink door sensors, Ecolink motion detectors, Fortrezz Siren/Strobe, Aeon Labs Minimote Remote Control, Nest, Sonos, and Hue through out the house.
Then you want a proper security system. So do a lot of users. Even a cursory glance through older topics on this forum will reveal your question being asked and answered many times before. Precis: If you choose the right system then you can interface it with your Vera, let Vera see the tripped state of sensors and the armed state of the partition, and maybe even control the security system through Vera. All this in addition to having a real security system with a keypad and warning lights/sounds.
But seriously, go find some of those older topics and see what’s already been talked about.
