configuring SQ Blaster

question, how do you configure the sq blasters independent IR channels? i have 4 cable boxes in the same location, and want to control each of them independently so they are hooked up to different ports on the SQ Blaster, but cant figure out how to control them seperately…im not using SQ Remote, im looking for an Android solution, so i was thinking of using AutHomation…

anyone?

Food for thought…

With the original SQBlaster there’s a single IR control Channel.
With the newer SQBlaster+ there’s a total of 5 [separate] IR control Channels.

The SQBlaster Plugin automatically detects both SQBlaster and SQBlaster+ models, and configures itself appropriately.

The full details of the Plugin are listed on this page (which is also the Help page for the Plugin once downloaded):
SQBlaster

Each of these IR Control channels will appear as a separate “IR Transmitter” device in Vera.

There are pictures of a sample SQBlaster+, and SQBlaster, setup at the top of the help page above.

In both the SQBlaster+ and SQBlaster models, there’s a “built in” set of IR emitters inside the case. On the SQBlaster+ models, you’ll need to attach IR Emitters to the external 3.5mm “Aux” connectors in order to access any additional IR channels.

Either way, it’s through these IR Transmitter devices that you get control of sending delivering [separate/isolated] IR channel data.

The next trick is always what to send (Pronto codes, etc), but that’s already been covered fairly widely in the forums so I won’t rehash it here.

ok perfect! thanks…and everything should show up in AutHomation properly as well?

Generally, you need a few things to get going:

a) An IR Transmitter Plugin, and the physical IR Transmitter (eg. SQBlaster)
b) An IR Device Plugin for each piece of IR equipment you intend to control
c) A Control Point that’s “IR Enabled”

Right now, you’d only have (a).

SQRemote for the iPhone is (c), but it’s the only IR-enabled Control Point that I’m aware of. That app would also let you select, from it’s menus, the various IR equipment you have, and (with a transformation process I wrote) would spit out various MiOS files for (b).

If you’re only going to send one-or-two IR commands, you can go another route by manually building a small number of MiOS Advanced Scenes, and behind each button you can put a call to “send” a specific Pronto code to the IR Transmitter.

Since these are scenes, and all Control points know how to activate scenes, this works everywhere… it’s just a LOT more manual to setup.

The user @a-lurker posted this great writeup of the manual process yesterday:

im not using an iPhone im using android based devices thats why i was asking if it integrates with AutHomation from how i set it up in my Vera 3/SQBlaster…

… which is why I mentioned it. It is technically possible, with a lot of manual Scene creation, to hand create it on an Android device… but its’ a lot of work.
