I can see my lock in my dashboard but the lock will not work it needs to be configured. How do I do that?
I see under the lock (failed at getting secure classes)
Ken,
Even though you added the lock and it’s visible on the dashboard, probably what happened is the device was added and you walked away prior to the security keys being exchanged. (I’m guessing here)
If it’s the same as the Schlage in exchanging the security keys, the lock will need to be in close proximity to Vera until completion to do the configuration. This process takes a bit longer than adding any other device due to the encryption involed.
Bring Vera to the lock or the lock to Vera and try to configure it again.
JOD.
Excluded the lock then reincluded same thing message saying (failed at getting secure classes)
Ken,
When JOD says “a little longer”, he’s not wrong. And by close proximity, they mean < 12" from the lock.
I did this 3x times recently with similar results to yours. In the end I changed the model and used a long Ethernet cable to Vera so I could use the regular dashboard, and “Option 1”, to include it to ensure it had gotten past the Secure Classes stuff.
That model worked without a problem.
Watching the flickering LED’s isn’t enough to know it’s gotten past all of the registration steps required for the Secured devices, at least for now.
Details have been sent to Kwikset-eng and MCV-eng, so hopefully this can be improved moving forward.
I’m close enough. I cannot get past the secure classes. I’l have to try and get a longer ethernet cable.
Or take the lock out of the door and take it to where your Vera Sits. Once its working then you relocate it and perform a network node update on the lock.
Or, turn on wifi on your vera2, plug the battery in, wait until all 3 lights come on… then connect to vera’s wifi network (using the key printed on the bottom of vera), go to 192.168.81.1 in your browser, and follow the rest of guessed’s steps.
Oh so many ways to skin a cat, but yes.
My “original” lock pairing was done by bring the lock to Vera… which is why the first one worked, but the ones I refer to above are all “in-place” so it changes the equation (without pulling the lock from the door, since I’ll be doing it repeatedly for some testing I’m helping with)
NOTE: No cats were hurt in the production of this Post 8)
First off I want to thank everyone for their help. The problem has been fixed here is how I did it.
OK it works. Here is what I did. First I excluded the lock from Vera. Then removed the battery pack from the Kwikset lock and hit the program button three times. Next I reinstalled the batteries. Last step I paired the lock with Vera using the battery and bringing Vera to the lock instead of removing the lock from the door. It is working fine, I think the problem was solved by excluding the lock from Vera and the resetting the lock by removing the batteries before repairing them.
