coexist with schlage link ?

We have purchased a Schlage deadbolt and enrolled with the Link subscription. It is very nice web application. Is it possible that Vera and Link can coexist peacefully at the same time on the z-wave network? The main reason I wish to use Vera is to control the deadbolt in conjunction our Crestron system. Is Vera flexible like that?

a z-wave device can only be paired with one network at a time. imo, i have no idea why you would want to pay for the link service (not knocking link, i’m sure it’s very nice), when you can control the lock for “free”, if you will, with vera. i’m also sure vera is much more fully featured than link (if i had to guess).

not sure what crestron is, an alarm?

Crestron is a high end Home Automation system that centers around Audio / Video control. Basically it does what we are trying to do with Vera, but using highend controllers, touch screens, and structured wiring.

As far as using Vera with Schlage Link, I would think you could add Vera as a secondary controller, or add the Schlage link as secondary (if schalge allows this). I am assuming that you are doing this because schlage doesn’t support some z-wave item that Vera does support, but you like the easy set-up and/or limited nature of the schlage unit?

Maybe MCV has more info on this…

The main reason I want to use Vera is because Link (the schlage service) will not allow me to control it externally with Crestron. Vera does allow me to control it via Crestron.

Where can I read more about zeewave “Secondary Controller?”?

Zwave protocol allows for many secondary controllers. Only one can be primary. iIn basic terms only one controller must be the main. The Schlage Link Bridge from my understanding must be the main primary. However Vera can peacfully act as a secondary. You may not have some of the advanced controlls if Vera is secondary. I had heard that the Schlage link bridge was to get an update that would allow it to be a secondary controller and this would allow a controller like vera to be the main primary controller.
I hope this has not confused the situation

Thank you Zmistro, it really is clear now. So, when I get Vera I can add the Link Schlage like this?

Please somebody tell me, has anybody tried it yet with Link Schlage??

I tried as vera being the secondary and vera works fine. However this was several months ago and both products have had updates. Since Schlage link requires a service fee which I have stopped paying I do not have any current information on this. Do realize that Schlage link is only a bridge to the internet if the internet is down most of the utility of the Schalge service will not work. Why do you want both services. Vera has so many more features at this time. Vera may be rough around the edges but much more utility!
