Hello everyone, I very new to this scripting and home automation, and to make matters worse, I’m under pressure to secure my doors at night - I’ll explain (I know some of you will laugh, but I really need help). I have a teenager that’s slipping out at night and my thought process was to install door sensors on my doors and when they are triggered between say 11pm and 5am…my bed room light would come on…I’ve installed the devices and linked them to my Mi Casa Verde. My question is as follows: What is the best way to accomplish this task and how would I go about it…I’ve started reading all of these posts, but I was hoping a good Samaritan would help me with this task.
I’m far from an expert but I’ll give you a start. You want to create a scene to turn on your bedroom lights. Under “Events” you would trigger the scene from the door sensor. To have it only run between 11 PM and 5 AM see the section of the wiki “Scene that runs only in a user set time interval” at http://wiki.micasaverde.com/index.php/Scripts_for_scenes#Scene_that_runs_only_in_a_user_set_time_interval. You would add the code to the “Luup event” section of the “Event”.
If you need more help hopefully someone with more expertise than me can chime in.
Thank you very much! It worked like a charm!! You saved me a ton of time…again, thanks
When I used this script I put it in Luup, rather than Events\Luup Event. Does anyone know if there are any differences between the two areas, please?

I believe they are different. There is a logic flow chart in the wiki that lays out triggers and events pretty well. Im searching for it now as I lost the link.

This link describes the priority/execution order.
Thank you @aschwalb!
