Hi! Have anyone already tried Google’s Chromecast Audio device? I just read that it now supports multiroom capabilities, so even though it is probably not as good as Sonos, it is 10 times cheaper than a Sonos Connect. I
I was wondering if there is any chance to have a Chromecast Audio in my Vera Edge future
yes i have 3 of them connected to a 12 channel amp (ebay for $200.00) that is plugged into a vera controlled outlet. The system works great. Next step is to integrate it using tasker so that one button on imperihome turns it on and tunes to my favorite channel.

Plugging something in to a Vera controlled outlet does not count as Vera integrated. What I think Santos is after is the possibility to send TTS messages to the Chromecast audio and control what is played automatically from Vera.
I love my Sonos but since the price of them just jumped over 20% here in Europe a Chromecast audio integration would be a nice option.
Squeezebox plugin can also be made to work with Chromecast. I have Chromecast as a player device generated by the Squeezebox plugin in my Vera3, yet, haven’t implemented anything useful with it so far.
You are absolutely correct korttoma! My ideia is to have a similar integration like the one that exists with Sonos. I have just a single Sonos speaker and I love it. It works great with Vera and the only downside is the high price (otherwise I would have at least one in each room). The Chromecast Audio is a lot cheaper (even though adding a speaker will increase on the $35 price tag).
Google probably released an SDK for Chromecast Audio so it shouldn’t take long before someone skilled integrates it with Vera Hopefully.
Can you elaborate on how you got the Squeezebox plug in to work with Chromecast?[/quote]
It is quite simple presently. Assuming you already have Squeezebox plugin working, which requires LMS (Logitech Media Server) running locally on your network.
The Chromecast plugin can be installed by selecting it from the list of (3rd party) plugins in LMS from ‘Settings’ → ‘Plugins’ and restarting the server. Then Chromecast appears just as another Squeezeplayer in LMS and in Vera.
