I would like to setup a backup internet connection for Vera Edge using cellular network (4G, 3G etc.). In case the main internet connections (NBN, wireless to VeraEdge) fails. I tried searching forum without luck, could someone advice please?
Cheers

Somewhere in my mind there is information about Huawei E173 - it may work, but I’m not sure (I don’t have this modem, but now it should be cheap, so you can test it).
Personally I’ve had tested ZTE MF821, Huawei E3351s-2 and E3372-s153 and none of them works, so it’s very hard to find working GSM modem.
Now I’m using different solution - one LTE connection backed up by second LTE using Dovado Tiny AC router + Huawei E3372 LTE modem + Huawei B593 integrated LTE router.
Threre are many possibilities to build such network (ie. using LEDE/openwrt router), but configuration with Dovado is very easy - you can use models: “Tiny AC”, “Pro AC” or “Pro”, but NOT older “Tiny” (which is still sold somewhere)
This thread has a list of hard coded 3g/4g modems just posted by Sorin M.
