Need some opinions here on what I can do.

I have a new house, but did not realize that when they wired everything, they did not pre-wire for ceiling fans anywhere in the house. I would really like to put some ceiling fans in. Currently I have the lights in the room controlled by the GE/Jasco dimmers. Is there anything short of running new wire that I can do to put in some fans? I would like to control them via my Vera if possible. I wouldn’t mind switching out the dimmer with something else however I would like to maintain control at the wall switch if possible. The only options I’ve seen so far are fans that have proprietary remote controls.

There is a Leviton 3-speed fan control wall switch. It won’t give you light control or reverse the fan direction, but it works well with Vera.

The bad thing with that is that I lose the light because I only have one wire running to the outlet where I would want to install the fan. I think I’m going to have to go up into the attic and actually run some new wires. It would be nice if someone would just come out with a Z-Wave controlled ceiling fan / light.

Agreed. I’ve been holding my breath for this for a year.
